Description

The primary responsibility of a?Utility Cook is to assist in preparing food items in accordance with Hawkers' recipes. This role also includes maintaining the cleanliness of dishware, glassware, and silverware efficiently, following Hawkers procedures. This position is also responsible for the cleanliness of the entire restaurant and its perimeters, including the restrooms while maintaining the Hawkers Asian Street Food standards.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must take and pass all required training courses, assessments as well as continuous training. 
  • Peel and cut vegetables, fruit, and meat required for preparation of food items including (but not limited to) salads, dressings, garnishes, desserts, and main ingredients.
  • Perform routine and repetitive tasks under the direction of leadership.
  • Understand and follow kitchen recipe/prep systems. 
  • Clean work area, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware and ensure proper disposal of food waste.
  • Maintain standards for food production and handling, cooking, housekeeping, sanitation, and safety. 
  • Assist in training new and existing team members in proper procedures and guidelines. 
  • Clean food preparation and production areas as required. 
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Food Handlers Certification and understand and follow OSHA and HACCP compliance standards. 
  • Load, run and unload the dish machine. 
  • Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately. 
  • Monitor dish machine water temperature and chemicals to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
  • Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware. 
  • Keep the dish room clean and organized. 
  • Bag and haul dish room trash to dumpster at designed times. 
  • Show flexibility in terms of your schedule and fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by leadership. 
  • Maintain a high level of personal cleanliness.
  • Be a team player; help fellow team members at every opportunity. 
  • Other duties may be assigned as the need arises. 
  • Understand and follow OSHA and HACCP compliance standards. 
  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Must be comfortable working in an environment with exposure to extreme cold/hot temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
