Job Title: Warehouse Manager           

Job Status: Full-time, in person in Atlanta, GA

Reports To: Director of Programs and Operations

Who We Are:  Urban Recipe is an Atlanta-based non-profit organization focused on combating food insecurity in a manner that affirms dignity while providing support and a sense of community among its members and partners. For 35 years, Urban Recipe’s food cooperatives (Food Co-ops) have provided consistent food to people in need, doing so in an environment where recipients build relationships with one another and gain ownership by participating in the process. Our mission is to partner with our members and supporters in creating food security, building community, and providing a platform for personal development.

Position Summary:  The Warehouse Manager for Urban Recipe is responsible for the management and maintenance of the warehouse, carrying out the logistics of receiving, processing, storing, and sending inventory according to purchase orders and shipping schedules. Their duties include loading orders onto trucks and shipping containers, organizing incoming stock, and putting the appropriate labels on outgoing parcels. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with management and executives to set departmental and organization-wide goals 
  • Supervise warehouse and transportation staff (1-3)
  • Assist with onboarding of all newly employed warehouse workers 
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate, cost-effective way 
  • Resolving any problems in the production process, including but not limited to: issues with building and distributing pallets, truck maintenance, inventory maintenance, and log maintenance   
  • Communicate weekly delivery schedules to optimize logistics
  • Ensure all distribution trackers, logs, and administrative paperwork are completed weekly
  • Follow local, federal, industry, and company standards and ensuring that the organization’s processes remain legally compliant as directed by Urban Recipe leadership 
  • Along with the Director of Programs and Operations, provide input on strategic and operational objectives for all warehousing
  • Perform quality controls and regularly update inventory
  • Serves as a representative of Urban Recipe at vendor locations and distributions 
  • Wear and utilize all required PPE and safety equipment/tools 
  • Collect merchandise from the warehouse and safely transport materials to co-op locations
  • Receiving and documenting merchandise for delivery or return 
  • Keeping an inventory of all merchandise entering or exiting the warehouse
  • Identifying and reporting any missing, lost, or damaged materials 
  • Ensuring that all the merchandise is safely and securely packed and labeled for shipping 
  • Serve as a secondary delivery driver for all programming 
  • Act as a strategic collaborator in strengthening community engagement and supporting program expansion

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Forklift license preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse position 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The employee will be required to lift and transport heavy items to waist level, up to 40 lbs, daily
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and walking are required
  • Required to wear and utilize all required PPE and safety equipment/tools
