Job description

Help End Hunger in New Hampshire
The New Hampshire Food Bank is looking for a relationship-driven fundraiser to join our Development Team. As our Major Gifts Officer, you'll build meaningful, long-term relationships with donors who are passionate about making a difference. You'll connect supporters with the programs and opportunities they care about, help them see the impact of their generosity, and invite them to invest in creating a stronger, more food-secure NH
This is a frontline fundraising role for someone who enjoys meeting people, building authentic connections, and turning those relationships into meaningful support for an important mission. You'll manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, develop personalized strategies to engage them, and work closely with Food Bank leadership, staff, volunteers, and partners to grow our major gifts program.
While your primary focus will be individual major donors, you'll also have opportunities to work with foundation and corporate supporters and help identify mid-level donors ready for deeper engagement.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 125-150 major gift donors and prospects with the capacity to give $5,000 or more annually.
  • Build authentic relationships with donors through in-person visits, phone calls, virtual meetings, tours, events, and personalized outreach.
  • Develop and execute individualized strategies to cultivate, solicit, steward, retain, and upgrade donors.
  • Secure major gifts in support of the Food Bank's annual priorities, campaigns, programs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and qualify new prospects, including mid-level donors ready to move into the major gifts pipeline.
  • Engage individuals, foundations, and corporate donors as needed, with a primary focus on growing individual major gifts.

  • Support corporate donors as needed, particularly those whose giving aligns with individual donor strategies or who may evolve into deeper philanthropic partners.
  • Prepare tailored impact updates that clearly communicate outcomes and donor-supported achievements.
  • Partner with program staff to create meaningful donor experiences that strengthen connection to the mission.

  • Create compelling proposals, impact updates, and personalized stewardship communications that connect donors with the impact of their giving.
  • Develop follow-up strategies for events and other engagement opportunities, particularly for supporters with major gift potential.
  • Use donor data, research, wealth-screening tools, and moves-management strategies to inform fundraising plans and identify opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and activity in Raiser's Edge NXT and monitor portfolio performance, including donor retention, upgrades, revenue, and other key metrics.
  • Stay connected to Food Bank programs and priorities to effectively share our work and identify meaningful funding opportunities.
  • Participate in Development team planning, meetings, events, and other activities that support the growth of the Food Bank's fundraising efforts.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in fundraising, relationship management, business development, community engagement, or a related field; major gifts experience is preferred.
  • Experience managing relationships, and a demonstrated ability to secure gifts, investments, or other meaningful commitments.
  • Experience using CRM or donor management systems; Raiser's Edge NXT experience is a plus.
  • A genuine passion for the Food Bank's mission and a commitment to helping create a hunger-free New Hampshire.
  • Ability to travel throughout the region and work occasionally on evenings and weekends.
