As a Game Development Manager, you are responsible for developing high-quality games for diverse audiences that are in line with the categoryโ€™s product strategy, working in close cooperation with a global development team. You will support inventor relations, brief and source promising product ideas, and develop products in time, at cost, and at the quality level required for successful commercialization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Build and iterate on games from ideation to launch, carrying responsibility for content development, e.g. mechanics, rules, copy & editing. Packaging and component needs are defined in collaboration with inventors and a global project team (among others: product manager, art director, technical developer, project manager)
  • Scout new game ideas and meet inventors by travelling to retail fair and consumer shows (primarily in the US), give timely feedback on concepts, evaluate and improve prototypes, run focus groups and playtesting sessions.
  • Communicate product intentions and requirements to licensing partners and ensure a smooth and compliant approval process.
  • In collaboration with product management, define consumer needs and market opportunities by analyzing industry trends, conducting consumer research, focus groups, online & retail store checks.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 5+ years of relevant product development or design experience in the games industry.
  • Successfully designed or developed games for Mass Market, Hobby, or Specialty in previous positions.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to take ownership for accomplishing assigned tasks in time. Able to set priorities and keep to projected schedules.
  • Strong passion for games, with the ability to develop outstanding games with high replay value, always having the target audience in mind.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills both external and internal, working with a global team that develops products for both national and international target groups.
  • Knowledge of consumer product marketing, with in-depth knowledge of the board games industry and modern gaming trends.
  • Consumer oriented, creative, motivated, and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Ability to function independently with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Solid negotiation skills. Ability to maximize value for the organization.

Salary Range: $90,000-$102,000 USD
