Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for cutting fiber/foam to appropriate specifications using a pattern.

Position Responsibilities:

    • Cut, shape, and trim fiber/foam, suing a ram blade and other hand tools.
    • Position templates or measure fiber to locate specified points of cuts or to obtain maximum yields.
    • Use rulers, scales and patterns to cut fiber.
    • Read work orders to determine dimensions, cutting locations, and quantities to cut.
    • Mark cutting lines around patterns or templates, or follow layout points, using squares, rules and straightedges.
    • Mark identification numbers, trademarks, grades, marketing data, sizes, or model numbers on products.
    • Complete other assigned duties as directed by supervisor.
    • Maintains neat and orderly work station; keeps equipment clean.
    • Wear required safety glasses and work shoes; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor. Also performs required stretching exercises.
    • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be knowledgeable in fiber cutting processes.
  • Must have ability to learn quickly and recognize parts.
  • Understand correct placement of parts, right / left sides, front / back.
  • English required for reading tickets and instructions.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Lift / Carry: Must be able to lift/remove and flip over pieces for gluing.
  • Standing / Walking: Must be able to stand and walk consistently during the 8+ hour day.
  • Reach / Handle / Grasp/Feel: Repetitive use of hands required. Must be able to use pneumatic equipment.
  • Bend / Lift / Stoop: Gathering supplies throughout day from various heights.
  • Push/Pull: Must be able to push cases into designated work zones; or pull with designated tow tool.
  • Environment: Indoors, controlled airflow, no air conditioning.
  • Tool Usage: Required to use glue gun, spray gun, and other tools for entire shift.
  • Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
