Job Summary

The Ocean Carrier Pricing Analyst will provide assistance with rates and develop quotations for sales teams based on market analysis and market expectations. They will maintain Memo and San Juan tariffs rates, rules and inlands, and service contracts and amendments ensuring Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) compliance with the same.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop commercial freight rates based on market conditions, P&L analysis and Doleโ€™s logistics requirements. The freight rates correspond to US, San Juan, Europe to/from Central America and Foreign to Foreign market.
  • Monitor and research rate usage and eliminate obsolete rates from tariffs based on customer information in collaboration with agents.
  • Implement tariff and service contract GRIโ€™s (General Rate increases) and ensure compliance and execution of the business core.
  • Maintain publication and FMC compliance rates and rules for FMC Tariff DOLQ-120 and DOLQ-132: submit information to tariff publishing company and verify accuracy of publication.
  • FMC Tariff Rules: compose language for new tariff rules and ensure compliance with FMC; ensure proper calculation and applicability of algorithms and review and re-write existing rule language as applicable for FMC DOLQ-120 and DOLQ-132.
  • Manage service contracts and amendments by developing and reviewing contracts with the established guidelines and procedures, to ensure that contracts comply with the FMC and company requirements.
  • File signed service contracts and amendments with the Publishing Company and ensure compliance with FMC.
  • Maintain the weekly deferred discount spreadsheets and send monthly to Accounting Department the total dollar amount for the deferred discount that corresponds to the volume shipped.
  • Audit quarterly Freight Forwarder Commission Report and MCN Audit Weekly Report, to comply with the established requirements.
  • Coordinate the European Manifested Correction Notices (MCN)
  • Research competitive tariff information. Read trade publications to remain current with commodity trends and Licensed NVOCCโ€™s.
  • Implement tariff GRIโ€™s (General Rate increases) and ensure compliance and execution of the business core.
  • Provide 30 day notification of tariff changes to sales teams/clients. Maintain and distribute to customers and agents: Common commodity spreadsheet.
  • Maintain customer and FCL volume database for imports and exports.
  • Research competitive tariff information. Read trade publications to remain current with commodity trends.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors in Business Administration, Finance, Customs, Foreign Trade & Logistics or a related field
  • Professional experience in ocean carrier environment preferred
  • 3 years' experience in servicing contracts or pricing
  • Knowledge of AS400, Datamyne, Salesforce, Docusign, Websimon and MS Office software preferred
  • Strong attention to details
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Fluency in Spanish including written is required.
