FM Approvals isย seekingย aย highly motivatedย business developmentย advancedย engineer to support growth in theย Hazardous Location, and Industrial Internet of Things (IioT)ย markets.ย  This role will help drive newย opportunities, strengthen customer engagement, and support product certificationย initiatives across the Americas.ย 

Responsibilitiesย 

  • Identifyย andย qualify opportunities in targeted industries.ย 

  • Develop and execute annual business plans.ย 

  • Build andย maintainย working relationships with team members, customers, and member companies withinย theย Americas.ย 

  • Overnight travel to customers,ย eventsย and trade showsย (Typically 25% or more).ย 

  • Support the development ofย technical knowledgeย and communication of market trends to internal and external audiences.ย 

  • Develop andย maintainย an understanding of the targeted industriesย includingย regulationย landscape,ย competitorsโ€™ intelligence,ย challengesย and opportunities.ย

  • 4+ yearsย of relevant experience in product certification, industrial automation,ย IioT, or engineering roles.ย 

  • Working knowledge of Hazardous Location standards such as FM, ATEX, IECEx, NEC/CEC, UL, or CSA.ย 

  • Experience withย IIotย technologies, including industrial sensors, connected devices,ย communication protocols, and condition monitoring systems is beneficial.ย 

  • Strong ability to translate technical certification requirements into clear customerย value propositions.ย 

  • Experience inย business development, technicalย salesย and/or marketingย forย industrialย or regulated sectors.ย 

  • Knowledge ofย FM Approvals certification offeringsย and/or FM Loss Prevention Data Sheets is beneficial.ย 

  • Moderate high: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlookย 

The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
