Job description

Join a high-performance team at Asplundh Electrical Testing (AET)—a NETA-certified leader in electrical testing—where precision, compliance, and innovation drive everything we do. As a Lead Calibration Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and traceability of all measurement systems while mentoring a skilled team. This position blends hands-on technical expertise with leadership in process optimization, customer engagement, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and verify in-lab and on-site calibrations for electrical, mechanical, and thermal instruments with full traceability to NIST or equivalent standards.
  • Develop and validate calibration procedures and uncertainty budgets using Fluke Editor and manufacturer specifications in alignment with ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.
  • Manage Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and Fluke Customer Portal for accurate calibration records and data integrity.
  • Analyze calibration data for trends and recommend corrective actions to improve accuracy and turnaround time.
  • Oversee external calibration vendors, ensuring compliance with tolerances and environmental conditions.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement CAPA for calibration-related nonconformances.
  • Prepare detailed performance reports using Crystal Reports and advanced Excel tools.
  • Support internal and external audits, presenting evidence of traceability and compliance.
  • Train and mentor calibration technicians, fostering technical growth and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Act as a technical liaison for customer inquiries and provide expert guidance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput and customer satisfaction.
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • 3–5 years of hands-on calibration experience with demonstrated proficiency in electrical measurement principles, uncertainty analysis, and traceability systems.
  • Proven experience calibrating and troubleshooting a broad range of test and measurement equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, high-voltage probes, temperature sensors, transducers, environmental chambers, power supplies, multiproduct calibrators, hipots, DLROs, micro ohmmeters, carrier equipment, and insulated poles.
  • Leadership or team coordination experience preferred.
Technical Proficiency
  • Advanced user of Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and Fluke Editor.
  • Skilled in data analysis and reporting using Crystal Reports and Excel (macros, pivot tables).
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty, calibration intervals, and tolerance determination.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Teams and collaborative digital tools.
Certifications
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)
