Description
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Fluid Mechanics. Candidates with a background in all areas of fluid mechanics, including both experimental and computational expertise, will be considered.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has 31 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 18 research and teaching faculty members, 301 undergraduates, 344 graduate students, and 23 postdocs. The Whiting School of Engineering and the Johns Hopkins University actively encourage and support interdisciplinary research through school-level research centers and cross-divisional research institutes. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has strong affiliations with the Center for Environmental and Applied Fluid Mechanics (CEAFM), the Ralph O'Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI), the Institute for Data Intensive Engineering and Science (IDIES), and the Johns Hopkins Allied Physics Laboratory (APL). Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in an engineering or a closely related field and will be expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research program. We seek a colleague who has a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and who will contribute to our community by embracing excellence and open communications.
