Job Title: Fresh Flower Designer
Department: Warehouse
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function
This position will create floral arrangements in a warehouse and refrigerated environment. Hours of operation are seven days a week. Specific scheduling for this position will be discussed during the interview process and will adjust based on the fluctuation of business and holidays.
Reporting Relations
Accountable and Reports to: President, Vice President, Operations, General Manager, & Central Design Supervisor
Positions that Report to you: None
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs and fills customer orders.
  • Understands the basics of floral products, care, and handling.
  • Inventories product, cares for damaged product, and replaces where necessary.
  • Ensures floral products are fresh.
  • Understands proper packaging techniques for completed floral arrangements.
  • Keeps the floral work area clean and tidy.
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Performs miscellaneous other duties as necessary.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time; and weekends as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
  • Must be customer service driven and able to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Must have basic working knowledge of computer use, to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook e-mail and calendars. Able to operate menu driven computer programs with mouse, 10 key keypad, and alpha numeric keyboard.
  • Ability to read and obey MSDS information on products.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers.
  • Must have the ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to file, post, sort, and organize materials, paperwork and software used.

Education and Experience:
High School or equivalent; an understanding of customer service, knowledge of fresh flowers - design experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to perform light to moderate physical work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, talking, climbing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to perform work duties in a refrigerated environment.

Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are performed in a refrigerated setting. There is frequent exposure to noise and continual exposure to temperature changes.
Equipment Used To Perform Job:
Fresh flower cutter, knife, pallet jack, four-wheel carts, and strapper. A digital camera, copier, and fax may also be required.
