Incumbents of positions in this series trim, prune, cut and/or plant flowers, bushes, etc.; seed, water, cut, weed and/or fertilize lawns, flower beds, shrubs, etc.; spray lawns, flower beds, etc. with fertilizers or pesticides; excavate grounds; clear and perform minor repairs to roadways, parking lots and walks; and perform related work as required.
The basic purpose of this work is to provide for the care and maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, walks, roadways and parking lots.
Trims, prunes, cuts and/or plants flowers, bushes, etc. as part of groundskeeping activities.
Seeds, waters, weeds and/or fertilizes lawns, flower beds, shrubs, etc.
Sprays lawns, flower beds, shrubs, etc. with fertilizers or pesticides.
Assists in designing floral beds and planning plan placement for grounds beautification.
Cuts lawns using hand mower or power mower.
Makes minor repairs of sidewalks, roadways and parking lots and clears them of snow.
Performs related duties such as emptying rubbish barrels; picking up trash; cleaning ditches, drains, and catch basins on grounds or roadways; shoveling snow and raking leaves.
Monitor the activities of employees involved in groundskeeping work to ensure compliance with established standards.
Provide on the job training to assigned workers.
Perform related duties such as maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment; maintaining records and logs including employee time and attendance; and preparing written reports as required.
