Job description

Material Equipment Handler - Forklift

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Material Equipment Operator to join our 2nd shift team in Norman, United States. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials and inventory within our warehouse operations.

Principal duties:

  • Receive oral and/or written instructions from receiving coordinator.
  • Work from freight bills and packing lists from incoming trucks.
  • Receive, count, visually inspect, and verify parts numbers on supplies, material and equipment.
  • Load/unload trucks & carriers manually and/or with lift trucks.
  • Pack and unpack supplies, materials, and equipment; weight and place proper postage on packages – cartons.
  • Move material between manufacturing areas, to and from storage areas.
  • Keypunch warehouse stacker and/or activate warehouse stacker in the storage and/or retrieving required material and equipment as directed.
  • Identify part pieces, prepare and maintain productions records as directed by Supervisor and/or Manufacturing information.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance such as changing batteries, making minor repairs and/or adjustments on mobile or other material handling equipment.
  • Maintain receiving area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Must be alert for pedestrians and other drivers at all times.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Licensed to operate mobile vehicles.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Very repetitive work and sitting much of the time while operating fork truck. Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of heavy and/or bulky parts required. Weight amounts may vary from 5 pounds to 50 pounds, any amount over 50 pounds requires physical or mechanical help. Must be able to use a hammer for nailing boards. Must be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds, 1 to 30 times an hour. Continuous movement of arms and repetitious twisting motions of upper and lower back to move and reposition load(s). Must be able to step up on fork truck several times per shift and use upper body to support body weight when stepping up on fork truck. Continuous mental/visual demand required extensively when operating fork truck. Varied degrees of mental demand required when organizing bins/pallets in work area.
