Job description

The Estimator / Project Manager is a full-time position that reports directly to the Senior Management of Brian’s Carpet and Commercial Flooring, Inc.  The Estimator / Project manager will be a Punctual, Dependable, Self-Motivated, Self-Starter expected to work independently with minimal oversight.  Independent problem solving & research skills are highly desirable qualities.

The Estimator / Project manager will be proficient in

  • Quickbooks
  • Microsoft Office
    • Excel
    • Word
    • Outlook

Direct responsibilities include but are not limited to the areas described below.  Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Actively pursue and acquire flooring installation projects

Estimating

  • Provides estimates for projects
    • Includes reviewing project bid list with other estimators and selecting jobs to be bid according to due date.
    • Each estimate should include a written work page with pricing, take off information and other pertinent notes.
    • Each estimate should include a corresponding bid document(s) to match the estimate or a field drawing. 
    • Each estimate will be accompanied by appropriate written back-up, consisting of material price quotes, addenda, RFI responses and other correspondence & directives as required for the preparation of the estimate.
    • Estimates will be performed using the company provided MeasureSquare quantity take-off program.
    • All estimates & supporting materials to be filed in the company server.
    • Monitors each estimate and follows-up with customer to determine status.

Project Management

  • Works with Senior Management to negotiate jobs, when needed.
  • Reviews project contract documents prior to execution.
  • Prepare shop drawings & project submittal package.
  • Attends all pre-bid, pre-construction & progress meetings.
  • Implements and oversees project buyout by determining materials needed per project and insuring orders are placed in a timely manner (following established ordering procedures).
  • Prepares detailed, accurate work orders for subs or in-house installers.
  • Communicates job progress to Senior Management.
  • Monitors progress of installation & compliance with contract documents. Communicates progress to Senior Management.
  • Tracks job cost vs. job estimate to confirm desired profitability.
  • Estimates & negotiates change orders as requested by customer.
  • Assist Office Manager with preparation of monthly progress payment applications.
  • Assist Bookkeeper with preparation of non-contract invoices.
  • Assist Office Manager with compilation & transmission of project close-out documents.
