Summary:

Miami Environmental & Energy Solutions is hiring a Custodial Service Worker/Floor Tech. The Custodial Service Worker/Floor Tech is responsible for the completion of all assigned floor care and custodial duties on a daily basis. This individual will ensure that spaces are kept clean, sanitary, conforms to both industry standards and contract requirements and leaves the staff and guests with a positive impression of the facility.


This is an onsite position in Atlanta, GA.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for janitorial services and will keep the facilityโ€™s appearance and cleanliness to a high standard for visitors and building occupants.
  • Respond to โ€œjanitorial emergenciesโ€ such as spills or other situations immediately. Report emergency to your manager.
  • Ensure restrooms, public areas and office spaces and cubicles are clean.
  • Provide and display appropriate, neat, and well-kept signs to indicate Danger, Hazardous Floors, etc. as applicable. Such signs shall be displayed at all times in all areas where cleaning operations are in progress. Signs shall be removed when no longer needed.
  • Ensure every room is cleaned and prepared for setup for an upcoming event.
  • Will ensure furniture is returned to the designated arrangement upon completion of appropriate cleaning tasks and will move furniture and/or furnishings as necessary when cleaning carpeting and flooring.
  • Follow policies and procedures on safety and sanitation.
  • Follow all emergency procedures.
  • Complete all trainings required by management.
  • Perform any or all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Make sure work phone is on and name tag is on uniform.
  • Communicate any issues from client to Director of Custodial Services and Custodial Supervisor.
  • Check in with your managers at the end of your shift.
  • Cleans and maintains various types of floor surfaces.
  • Performs all detail and periodic floor care to hard floors and carpets using established floor cleaning and finishing techniques.
  • Strips, waxes and cleans tile floors.
  • Performs weekly preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Operates equipment used for floor maintenance including buffing machines, burnishers, extractors, hosts, and carpet sweepers.
  • Maintains clean, organized storage and work areas including but not limited to: designated storage rooms and closets, janitorial closets and housekeeping carts.
  • Performs all assigned daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annual periodic cleaning duties to ensure a neat, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Maintains floors, and all other surfaces to manager specification and industry standards.
  • Performs all other regular non floor tech related daily custodial duties as assigned by management.
  • Reports to and is supervised by the Director of Custodial Services.
  • Works in conjunction with all custodial and conference service employees.
  • Deals with any guest or employee who requires or requests hospitality or custodial services.
  • After training, maintains working knowledge of all MSDS information as per OSHA requirements.
  • Inventories supplies needed to perform daily operations as requested by manager.
  • Communicates closely with management and employees in all departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Establishes, implements, and follows all emergency procedures.
  • Works with a diverse group of co-workers and customers in a high volume, demanding, Class A facility.
  • Is empowered to act on any job function issues that can directly influence any guest or employee experience in a positive fashion.
  • Actively participates in training programs as directed by the Director of Custodial Services.
  • Reports all accidents to the manager immediately.
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisorโ€™s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Floor Technician Responsibilities:

  • Start with opening duties โ€“ clean entrances, security area etc.
  • Clean break room floor
  • Monitor all zones for hazards during inclement weather
  • Rover all day the floors to make sure debris free
  • Prepare all floor prep work for night service
  • Clean all insides and outside of equipment nightly
  • Mop restroom floors at the end of every shift
  • Detail areas according to schedule
  • Pull common area and trash and recycle bins
  • Sweep and mop all staircase and hallways
  • Edge carpet
  • Clean and detail elevator and touch points
  • Remove all carpet stains within a 24-hour period
  • Clean glass and polish bright work
  • Report any unsafe conditions and broken items in building
  • Vacuum office, cubical space and common areas
  • Spot, shampoo, extract, all carpeted floors
  • Scrub, buff, apply floor finish and strip hard floor surfaces
  • Clean insides of trashcans
  • Mop and dust mop floors
  • Only dry dust exhibit area with micro fiber cloth โ€“ no chemical on art
  • Cleans and maintains various types of floor surfaces.
  • Performs all detail and periodic floor care to hard floors and carpets using established floor cleaning and finishing techniques.
  • Strip, wax and clean tile floors.
  • Perform weekly preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Operates equipment used for floor maintenance including buffing machines, burnishers, extractors, hosts, and carpet sweepers.
  • Maintain clean, organized storage and works areas including but not limited to: CFM designated storage rooms and closets, janitorial closets and housekeeping carts.
  • Perform all assigned daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi- annually, and annual periodic cleaning duties to ensure a neat, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Maintain floors, and all other surfaces to manager specification and industry standards.
  • Perform all other regular non floor tech related daily custodial duties as assigned by the director.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a Class A Facility with similar duties. Skilled in the use and care of floor maintenance equipment, and use of floor cleaning and finishing agents. Is accountable to perform his/her duties in a timely and efficient manner. Is accountable for abiding by all relevant policies and procedures. Is available to work flexible hours based on the occupancy demands Able to work independently, and follow verbal and written instructions. Displays a commitment to the mission.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-one-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
