$19.10–$22.10/hour + $1.50/hour bilingual differential (English/Spanish)

Job Summary

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is seeking a Retail Assistant Manager – Multi‑Site (Floating) to support daily operations across multiple store locations, including Ellicott City. This role provides leadership coverage, operational continuity, and staff supervision in stores experiencing vacancies, absences, or increased business needs.

The Floating Assistant Manager helps drive sales, production, customer service, and team performance while ensuring consistent execution of Goodwill standards. This position also serves as acting Store Manager when the Store Manager is not on‑site.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Store Managers across multiple locations in all aspects of store operations and staff supervision
  • Provide leadership coverage to ensure consistent execution of policies, procedures, and customer service standards
  • Serve as a lead greeter and set the tone for excellent customer and donor service
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management
  • Help achieve sales goals while managing labor and operational expenses
  • Direct production workflow to meet donation processing, colorization, categorization, pricing, rotation, and salvage targets
  • Implement floor plans, visual standards, and seasonal merchandising strategies
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns and protect brand reputation
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and maintain a safe working environment
  • Identify loss prevention risks, report concerns, and support shrink‑reduction practices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment
  • Assist customers with purchases and donors with intake procedures
  • Perform non‑managerial tasks (register, stocking, processing) as needed to maintain operations
  • Promote Goodwill’s mission and uphold organizational values
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Schedule & Availability

  • Weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday) is required
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and holidays
  • Reliable transportation required for each scheduled shift

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience in retail or a related environment
  • Strong people leadership, customer service, and merchandising skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Self‑starter mindset with flexibility to learn and grow

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and access to a personal vehicle required
  • Ability to perform all essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Lift up to 50 lbs (frequent lifting up to 25 lbs)
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands throughout shift
