Job Title: Float Teller
Company Overview
Mountain Valley Bank is seeking a skilled, customer-focused, and adaptable individual to join our team as a Float Teller. This position is ideal for someone with previous banking experience who enjoys variety, is comfortable working in multiple branch environments, and is committed to providing exceptional service to customers throughout the Bank's service area.
Job Summary
As a Float Teller, you will provide teller coverage and customer service support throughout Mountain Valley Bank's branch network as staffing needs arise. While assigned a designated home branch, this position is expected to travel and work at any Mountain Valley Bank location as directed by management. The Float Teller will perform teller duties, assist customers with a variety of banking transactions, and help ensure consistent service levels across all branch locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teller Operations
    • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cash advances, official checks, and other teller transactions.
    • Maintain and balance cash drawer daily and resolve discrepancies promptly.
    • Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, security requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  2. Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service and build positive customer relationships.
    • Assist customers with account inquiries, problem resolution, and basic product and service information.
    • Identify opportunities to refer customers to appropriate bank products and services.
  3. Branch Coverage
    • Travel to and work from any Mountain Valley Bank branch location as assigned.
    • Provide coverage for planned absences, unplanned absences, staffing shortages, training events, and other operational needs.
    • Quickly adapt to varying branch environments, customer volumes, and operational requirements.
  4. Team Support
    • Assist with training and supporting Teller I employees when appropriate.
    • Foster teamwork and collaboration across all branch locations.
    • Serve as a positive representative of Mountain Valley Bank at all assigned locations.
  5. Operational Support
    • Assist with branch opening and closing procedures as assigned.
    • Support branch management in maintaining efficient branch operations.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Previous teller experience in a banking environment preferred.
  3. Strong understanding of banking transactions, policies, and procedures.
  4. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments.
  6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to travel between Mountain Valley Bank locations as needed.
  8. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel between branch locations as needed.
Additional Position Requirements
  • A designated home branch will be assigned; however, regular travel to other Mountain Valley Bank locations is an essential function of this position.
  • Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with Mountain Valley Bank policy when applicable.
  • Work schedules and branch assignments may vary based on operational needs.
  • Employee must reside within 30 miles of Dunlap, TN or within a reasonable commuting distance approved by management.
