Job description

About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center, in Fort Stewart, Georgia.Qualifications:Who May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (FLO/ HAZMAT) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Hazmat). I can perform warehousing operations which include 1) receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment; and 2) unloading, inspecting, and tallying stock to assure quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Lifting items that weigh up to 75 lbs. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others.
  • Working Conditions: Work is accomplished inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls and injury from falling stock. There is routine exposure to dust, dirt, grease, high noise levels in mechanized work areas and may occasionally be subject to exposure to toxins or chemical fumes. Safety shoes and protective goggles are a requirement of the position.
