Kalitta Charters II specializes in scheduled and on-demand narrow-body freighter operations. In 2003, aviator and NHRA World Champion, Doug Kalitta, set out to provide a safe and reliable solution to a complex logistics problem. This problem entailed moving freight across the Americas for our customers… overnight!


Job Summary:

The Flight Follower’s primary responsibility is to the safety of flight. Flight Followers are delegated authority by the Director of Operations to exercise operational control jointly with the pilot in command IAW 14 CFR Part 121 Supplemental rules. Flight Followers prepare and distribute domestic and international flight releases, runway analysis, and weather data in accordance with existing policies and procedures.


Functions/Responsibilities

  • Monitor the status of planned and in progress flights from the point of origin to the final destination
  • Release flights in accordance with all Kalitta Charters II applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Collect and disseminate weather and aeronautical information to the PIC by preparing flight plans
  • Ensure all ground handling, deicing, fuel, landing/departure slots, and landing/overfly permits are in order before releasing a flight
  • Identify, anticipate, and take corrective action to minimize actual/potential delays due to weather, scheduling, operations, crew legality, and maintenance issues
  • Advise appropriate personnel of potential/actual delays and conditions affecting the safety of the flight
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Control to ensure that MEL/CDL limitations or restrictions are evaluated and complied with
  • Determine airport suitability/risk assessment
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate
  • 1+ year(s) experience as a Part 121/135 Flight Follower/Dispatcher
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and company manual systems
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license

Shift Requirements

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays
  • Ability to work 8, 10, 12 hour shifts
  • Work schedules will vary as Kalitta Charters II operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • Quarterly Schedule Bid

Location Requirements

  • Position based in Ypsilanti, MI at Willow Run Airport (YIP)
  • There is no ability to work remotely
  • There will be no relocation package for this position
  • A hotel may be provided for up to 2 weeks during relocation

Other Requirements

  • Candidate must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screen and a DOT/FAA compliant background check
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Intermediate Computer & MS Office skills

Compensation

  • Base annual salary: $50,000
  • Established pay scale including yearly performance based increases
