Common Search & ComparisonYesYes

Flight Assistants and Flight Attendants often share similar roles, including safety procedures and customer service. The main difference lies in terminology; 'Flight Assistant' is sometimes used in private or corporate aviation, while 'Flight Attendant' is more common in commercial airlines. Both roles require safety certifications and involve working in aircraft cabins, serving passengers, and ensuring safety during flights.

Do flight attendants make $100 an hour?

Flight attendants typically do not earn $100 an hour; their wages usually range from $25 to $50 per hour, depending on experience, airline, and flight hours. Most earn a base salary plus per diem and overtime, with high earners often making over $50 per hour in total compensation. Achieving $100 an hour is uncommon and generally requires seniority, specialized routes, or additional responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Flight Assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Flight Assistant, you need strong customer service abilities, safety awareness, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent, with formal training from an airline. Familiarity with airline safety protocols, emergency equipment, and reservation or communication systems is usually required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, calmness under pressure, and effective teamwork help Flight Assistants provide a positive passenger experience and handle in-flight issues. These skills are crucial to maintaining safety, comfort, and efficient operations aboard each flight.

How does a Flight Assistant typically collaborate with pilots and other crew members during a flight?

Flight Assistants work closely with pilots, co-pilots, and fellow cabin crew to ensure passenger safety and comfort throughout the flight. They communicate with the cockpit regarding any safety or medical issues, coordinate with other attendants to provide efficient service, and participate in pre-flight briefings to discuss flight details and assignments. Teamwork and clear communication are essential, especially during emergencies or when managing challenging passenger situations.

Can I be a flight attendant with no experience?

Flight attendants can often be hired without prior experience, as airlines typically provide training on safety procedures, customer service, and emergency protocols. Having strong communication skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to work flexible hours are important, and some airlines may prefer candidates with previous customer service or hospitality experience. Certification in first aid or CPR can also be beneficial but is usually obtained after hiring.

How much does a flight assistant get paid?

A flight assistant, also known as a flight attendant, typically earns between $30,000 and $60,000 annually, depending on experience, airline, and location. They often receive additional benefits such as travel perks and per diem allowances, and must complete safety and customer service training before employment.

What do flight assistants do?

Flight assistants, also known as flight attendants, are responsible for ensuring passenger safety and comfort during flights. They conduct safety demonstrations, serve meals and beverages, handle emergencies, and enforce airline policies. Strong communication skills, customer service experience, and safety training are essential for this role.

Pay: $25.50/hour

Why You’ll Love This Role
Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants are part of the cabin crew that keeps flights safe and on track. In this role, you’ll follow FAA safety procedures, provide exceptional customer service, and support flyers throughout the inflight experience. You’ll make a difference for people every day: often in small moments that matter.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep flyers safe and confident at 30,000 feet. Perform FAA safety procedures, conduct preflight equipment checks, operate aircraft doors/exits, and maintain full compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional service to our Frontier flyers. Provide friendly, people-first support through clear communication, quick problem-solving, and warm hospitality throughout the journey.
  • Keep the cabin running smoothly. Lead galley setup, beverage/snack service, onboard sales, PA announcements, and maintain an organized, service-ready cabin environment.
  • Stay steady and ready when it matters most. Administer CPR/first aid, support emergency and security procedures, assist with evacuations, and provide calm, confident leadership.

Your First Steps with Frontier

  • 3.5 weeks of immersive training with lodging and meals provided, preparing you for all in-flight safety and service operations. Complete your Initial Operating Experience (IOE) to become a fully certified Frontier Flight Attendant.  (Training is unpaid.)
  • After certification, you may begin on Reserve. Frontier is proud to offer one of the shortest reserve timelines in the industry, helping you move into a regular schedule sooner.
  • Multiple locations / bases: This Flight Attendant job supports multiple U.S. locations—new hires are assigned to one of our 13 bases based on business needs and seniority.
  • Seniority movement: As Frontier grows and continues hiring, seniority movement may increase over time, creating more schedule flexibility and base transfer opportunities, based on seniority and business needs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Valid passport book with at least 14 months of remaining validity and the ability to travel internationally
  • 20+ years old to begin the interview process
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
  • 6+ months of customer service or guest-facing experience (hospitality, retail, food service, call center, or similar)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional appearance; no visible hand, neck, or face tattoos
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfort assisting passengers in fast-paced, dynamic environments

This Role Includes

  • Standing for long periods and move safely throughout a pressurized cabin
  • Lifting and stowing 35–50 lb. bags and pushing/pulling 100-lb. galley carts
  • Reaching overhead up to 67” and operating aircraft doors, window exits, and emergency equipment
  • Listening for, hearing, and responding to chimes, announcements, call buttons, and crew instructions
  • Bending, balancing, and performing repetitive motions while assisting passengers
  • Securing yourself in a jumpseat with standard belts and harnesses (no extensions)

Additionally, you’ll be responsible for following all FAA and Frontier safety procedures; conducting preflight equipment checks; preparing and securing aircraft doors; assisting passengers during boarding/deplaning; providing safety demonstrations; performing onboard service and sales; ensuring cabin safety and security; and administering CPR/first aid when needed.

What You’ll Get

  • Flight perks and privileges on Frontier Airlines and 100+ partner airlines for you and eligible family members
  • Uniform allowance
  • Buddy passes for friends
  • Discounts on hotels, car rentals, cruises, and vacation packages
  • Lifestyle savings on phone plans, restaurants, movie tickets, luggage, and 2,000+ vendors
  • Paid holidays and vacation/sick time
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance starting the 1st of the month after hire
  • Financial assistance through the HOPE League
  • Opportunities for volunteering and community service
