Job description

As an EDA License Engineer at NVIDIA, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our engineering software licenses. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to collaborate with world-class engineers and contribute to groundbreaking innovations!
What you'll be doing:
  • Own the day-to-day operation and lifecycle management of FlexLM/FLEXnet EDA license servers in Linux environments, including installs, upgrades, renewals, rereads, and decommissioning.
  • Diagnose and resolve license availability, checkout, and performance issues using tools such as lmstat, debug logs, and operational telemetry.
  • Partner with EDA tool owners, infrastructure teams, and security collaborators to ensure license compliance, access control, and export-restricted usage policies.
  • Improve reliability and observability of license infrastructure through automation, monitoring, and data analysis of license usage and trends.
  • Lead or own small to medium-sized projects to improve licensing workflows, tooling, or operational scalability.
  • Contribute documentation, operational runbooks, and guidelines to support broader team knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for license-related incidents and blocking issues affecting engineering efficiency.

What we need to see:
  • Strong hands-on experience with FlexLM / FLEXnet licensing, including server configuration, license files, daemons, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with Reprise License Manager is a plus.
  • Solid Linux system administration skills (RHEL/CentOS), including process management, logging, networking basics, and scripting.
  • Experience operating production infrastructure with high availability and reliability expectations.
  • Ability to work independently within broadly defined objectives and exercise sound technical judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:
  • Experience automating operational workflows using scripting (python or shell) or infrastructure tooling such as Ansible.
  • Familiarity with license allocation methods such as using options files, dedicated license pools, and batch scheduling allocation such as License Scheduler.
  • Experience supporting EDA toolchains (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens) in large engineering environments.
  • Exposure to security, export-control, or access-restriction requirements in shared compute environments.
  • Prior ownership of infrastructure projects that improved reliability, scalability, or operational efficiency.
