Job Description Summary

• Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers provide non-medical service and assistance to a client in their home and communities, who, because of advanced age or physical or mental disability, cannot perform these services. These services enable the client to remain in his or her residence and include, but are not limited to, assistance with the following: bathing, dressing, feeding, exercising, personal hygiene and grooming, transferring, ambulating, positioning, toileting and incontinence care, assisting with medication that the client self-administers, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, laundry, transportation, correspondence, making telephone calls, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.

• Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant Agency policies, industry standards, and state regulations.

Eligibility Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older

• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents

Able to obtain during onboarding process:

• Clearance Verified on the Home Care Aide Registry

• Current Tuberculosis (TB) certificate

• Registered with state of CA and active HCA number

• Completed “Criminal Record Statement” (LIC 508)

• Complete “Personnel Record” (LIC 501)

• Complete “Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Suspected Abuse of Dependent Adults and Elders” (SOC 341A)

• Minimum of five (5) hours entry-level orientation training prior to presence with client(s)

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Assist with the activities of daily living and personal care including:

- bathing - shaving - ambulation

- mouth care - dressing - exercising

- hair care - feeding - toileting/incontinence care

- nail care - positioning - medication reminding

- skin care - transferring - meal planning & preparation

Safe Harbor Home Care is a San Diego based, locally operated company that provides in-home care services.
These personalized services include medication reminders, meal preparation, bathing or showering care assistance, light housekeeping and laundry, help with transfers or mobility, companionship and respite care, and help with errands and transportation.
