About this Role
Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support the design and development of electrical systems for EPC power generation and distribution projects. This role supports projects involving gas turbines, renewable energy facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and transmission infrastructure. The Electrical Engineer III will contribute to the development of complete construction packages for power generation facilities supporting utility, industrial, and data center clients.
The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical engineering expertise, experience in EPC project execution, and the ability to independently execute engineering deliverables while coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.
What You'll Do
Engineering Design & Analysis
  • Develop electrical engineering designs for power generation, renewable energy, BESS, substation, and transmission projects.
  • Produce estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs (MTOs).
  • Develop and assemble engineering scopes, drawings, specifications, and procurement packages for equipment and materials.
  • Lead development of detailed electrical engineering deliverables, including:
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Motor elementary diagrams
    • Interconnect diagrams
    • Electrical cable schedules
    • Equipment specifications
    • Material take-offs (MTOs)
    • Grounding systems
    • Lighting systems
    • Lightning protection systems
    • Heat tracing systems
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate system performance and design integrity, including:
    • Arc flash studies
    • Grounding grid analysis
    • Protective device coordination studies
    • Load flow evaluations
    • Voltage drop calculations
  • Design and implement instrumentation systems for process control, monitoring, and automation applications.

Project Execution
  • Support projects through conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering activities with mechanical, civil, structural, process, instrumentation, and project management teams.
  • Review project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Identify and communicate scope changes, technical risks, and design updates throughout project execution.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.

Procurement & Vendor Coordination
  • Prepare technical specifications and procurement documentation.
  • Review and evaluate vendor proposals and technical submittals.
  • Review vendor drawings and equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical issues and ensure successful equipment integration.

Construction & Commissioning Support
  • Prepare construction packages and installation documentation.
  • Support field implementation, startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical system issues during construction and startup.
  • Respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs) and field engineering inquiries.
  • Conduct site visits and field verification activities as required.

What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • EPC, power generation, utility, industrial, or energy infrastructure project experience strongly preferred.
