Plant Modeling Engineer 

We are seeking a Plant Modeling Engineer (PME) to join the Global Virtual Engineering (GVE) team. In this role, you will develop virtual sensor and actuator models that support calibration, verification, and validation of embedded controllers for vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, electrification, hybrid, and chassis applications.

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to advance virtual vehicle development using industry-leading modeling and simulation tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain sensor and actuator plant models using MATLAB/Simulink and related virtual engineering tools.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.
  • Design model architectures for use in SiL, HiL, VHiL, and Co-Simulation environments.
  • Execute model validation and testing based on customer and engineering requirements.
  • Perform device characterization through data acquisition and analysis.
  • Support model lifecycle activities including enhancements, releases, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with controls, calibration, hardware, validation, and supplier teams.
  • Translate vehicle calibration requirements into robust simulation models.
  • Support virtualization activities within dSPACE/GMSIM environments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''''''''s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in plant modeling, model-based development, or simulation.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of embedded controller interfaces and requirements.
  • Familiarity with IBM DOORS.
  • Knowledge of serial communication protocols:
    • CAN
    • LIN
    • SPI
    • Ethernet
  • Experience with one or more of:
    • Simscape
    • GT-Power
    • SABER
    • dSPACE
    • AEMSIM
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master''''''''s degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle propulsion systems.
  • Knowledge of ECU hardware, sensors, actuators, and diagnostics.
  • Experience with CAN, LIN, SENT, PWM, HWIO, and embedded control systems.
  • Familiarity with version control tools:
