• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify the unique emotional and psychological needs of elderly clients.
• Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions, using evidence-based practices to address issues related to aging, grief, and transitions in life.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each geriatric resident.
• Provide education and resources to families and staff on enhancing emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Deliver specialized grief and loss counseling services, particularly for families coping with end-of-life concerns.
• Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs to foster mental acuity among older adults, utilizing best practices in geriatric care.

The primary focus of this role is on geriatric clients, particularly those experiencing cognitive decline, depression, anxiety, and the emotional effects associated with aging. You will work with seniors from diverse backgrounds who may be facing significant life transitions, seeking to find comfort and support in their later years. Your role will play a critical part in enhancing their overall mental health and quality of life.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in providing mental health support, specifically focusing on geriatric populations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based mental health interventions tailored for the elderly.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with seniors and their families.
• A commitment to continual professional development and lifelong learning in geriatric mental health.

• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
• Experience with community mental health resources and programs for elderly clients.

Unity Care Services offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
