(Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center as our Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) the pivotal leader advancing Veteran care through smart technology, collaboration, and data-driven excellence.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Clinical Informatics Leadership:

  • Serve as the resident expert in clinical informatics and health IT; the primary advisor to executive leaders at the Medical Center.
  • Champion innovation and change, influencing and collaborating across all clinical domains nursing, physicians, pharmacy, and more.
  • Master organizational structure and the impact of informatics in driving clinical and operational success.

Patient Care Excellence:

  • Leverage VA clinical information systems to enable providers to deliver the right care at the right time for the right patients.
  • Ensure strong support systems to improve data quality and seamless clinical information transfer between care teams.

Technology & Informatics:

  • Evaluate and optimize clinical computing systems and interventions for superior health outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and refine informatics solutions around the EHR and related technologies.

Data Management:

  • Lead enterprise-wide data creation, integration, dissemination, and management ensuring timely, accurate, secure information flow.
  • Oversee data standards, policy adherence, and safeguard the integrity and usability of clinical data assets.

Collaboration:

  • Align clinical informatics strategy by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams staff, trainees, and affiliated scholars to design, implement, and evaluate systems configuration and innovations.

Policy & Implementation:

  • Ensure robust clinical input in shaping and executing VHA business architecture, defining business processes, information flows, and functional requirements critical to fulfilling VA s mission.

Leadership:

  • Supervise and inspire professional and non-professional staff, upholding a climate of productivity, fairness, and high morale.
