Job Summary:

$3000 Signing Bonus, if eligible; Full Time; Evenings 2pm - 10:30pm; REQUIRES: CRCST from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD), three years related work experience AND Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) or ability to obtain within three months of hire.

Job Duties:

Assists with the daily supervision and management activities related to department. Assists in maintaining departmental compliance with regulatory agencies, including Joint Commission and Department of Health. Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Directs the work of others in the absence of management personnel.

  • Assists with staffing, planning and management of the operational functions in conjunction with the requirements of all areas.
  • Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of management personnel.
  • Alters normal routines in order to adjust to irregular and emergent situations.
  • Assists and instructs in the supervision of specialized technical skills, requirements and work performance in the department.
  • Works with the Supervisor in developing quality monitors, in-service programs and orientation programs.
  • Assists with the maintaining listings and diagrams of surgical and floor grade instrument sets.
  • Assists with the interviewing and replacement of new or replacement employees.
  • Assists in investigation of problem areas or complaints concerning intra-and interdepartmental operation.
  • Performs all activities of a Sterile Processing Technician including proper operation of decontamination, and sterilization equipment.
  • Disassembles, cleans, inspects, and assembles instrument sets.
  • Dispenses products requested by verbal, written or telephone requisitions.
  • Staff have access to non-controlled medications storage and supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic and unit.
