AVP, Enterprise Risk Management
Hybrid | San Diego, CA
Compensation: $117,000 - $147,000 annually
Actual compensation within this range will be determined by factors including experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and other job-related considerations permitted by law.
As an AVP, Enterprise Risk Management, this is a highly visible role. You'll partner closely with the General Counsel and senior leadership to shape, evolve, and elevate our enterprise risk management program-ensuring it drives smarter decisions, stronger governance, and sustainable growth.

What You'll Do
As a key leader within Risk Management, you will:
Shape the ERM Strategy
  • Lead the ongoing development and maturity of the ERM program, aligning it with business strategy, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices
  • Partner with senior leadership to evolve the ERM framework, risk appetite, and governance structure
  • Drive strategic ERM initiatives and continuous improvement across tools, processes, and platforms

Drive Enterprise Risk Insights
  • Design and lead enterprise-wide risk assessments, including risk identification, scoring, aggregation, and reporting
  • Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership, committees, and stakeholders to support decision-making
  • Monitor emerging risks, industry trends, and regulatory developments-and translate them into strategic recommendations

Strengthen Risk Governance & Operations
  • Lead key ERM governance activities, including dashboards, reporting, and committee materials
  • Oversee risk and control assessments to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with risk appetite
  • Partner cross-functionally to embed risk management practices into day-to-day operations

Influence Across the Organization
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business and control partners on risk and governance matters
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives such as policy standardization, governance enhancements, and product risk reviews
  • Build strong relationships and drive alignment without direct authority

Build a Risk-Aware Culture
  • Support ERM training and awareness programs across the organization
  • Promote a proactive, risk-informed mindset at all levels

What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise risk, audit, compliance, legal, or a related function within a regulated financial environment
  • Strong track record leading enterprise risk assessments and advising senior leadership
  • Experience influencing cross-functional initiatives and operating independently in complex environments
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus
  • Relevant professional certification required (RIMS-CRMP preferred; FRM, PRM, CRCM, CRM, or similar accepted)
  • Credit union or financial services experience strongly preferred
