Flexible Big Dog Oil Rig information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Oil Rig Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Oil Rig Worker, you need physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, and experience with heavy machinery, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant vocational training. Familiarity with drilling equipment, safety protocols, and certifications such as H2S or Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) are typically required. Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and adaptability help individuals excel in the challenging and dynamic offshore environment. These competencies are crucial for maintaining safety, operational efficiency, and effective collaboration in demanding oil rig operations.

What are some common challenges faced by workers on a flexible oil rig, and how can new team members best prepare for them?

Workers on flexible oil rigs, such as those operated by Big Dog, often encounter challenges like adapting to rapidly changing schedules, working in remote and sometimes harsh environments, and maintaining safety standards under physically demanding conditions. New team members can best prepare by staying physically fit, familiarizing themselves with safety procedures, and being ready to collaborate closely with a diverse crew. Strong communication skills and adaptability are key, as tasks and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs.

What is a Flexible Big Dog Oil Rig?

The 'Big Dog' refers to a specific series or model known for its robust performance and advanced drilling capabilities, often equipped with state-of-the-art technology for efficiency and safety. Flexible Big Dog Oil Rigs are favored by drilling companies for their adaptability and cost-effectiveness in meeting diverse drilling needs.

Full job description

Now Hiring: Experienced Pet Care Professional (NOT a “just play with puppies” job)

Top of the Valley Pet Resort – St. Croix Falls, WIPay: $16–$18/hour | Part-Time | Full-Time

Read This First – Is This You?

This is not a casual job where you sit and cuddle dogs all day.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Understands dog behavior, structure, and safety
  • Can confidently handle multiple dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels
  • Shows up on time, every time, and follows through
  • Takes pride in doing things the right way—not the easy way

If you’re looking for something “easy” or just love dogs but don’t have experience—this is not the right fit.

About Us

At Top of the Valley Pet Resort, we are an award-winning, family-owned facility known for providing structured, safe, and high-quality care—not chaos daycare.

We take what we do seriously, and our clients trust us because of it.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires awareness, responsibility, and consistency.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Safely managing and supervising structured daycare playgroups
  • Reading dog behavior and preventing issues before they happen
  • Feeding, administering medications, and following specific care instructions
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kennels and facility areas (this is a BIG part of the job)
  • Assisting with bathing and basic grooming tasks
  • Communicating clearly with clients in person and over the phone
  • Supporting daily operations and maintaining a calm, controlled environment

What We’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)

  • Previous dog handling experience REQUIRED (kennel, daycare, grooming, training, vet clinic, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of dog body language and group dynamics
  • Ability to stay calm, assertive, and in control in a busy environment
  • Reliability and consistent attendance
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and be on your feet for long periods
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

Bonus Skills (Not Required but Valued)

  • Grooming experience
  • Experience administering medications
  • Social media/content creation skills
  • Customer service experience

Schedule

Flexible part-time or full-time for the right person. Looking primarily for afternoon/evening availability, with some days as well.
Must have availability for weekends and HOLIDAYS

Important – Read Before Applying

We are looking for someone who is serious about working with dogs as a responsibility, not just a hobby.

As part of the application, please answer the following:

  • Tell us about your experience working with dogs (be specific).
  • Describe a challenging dog situation you handled and how you managed it.
  • Why do you want to work in a structured dog care environment like ours?

How to Apply

Qualified applicants will be contacted via text to schedule an interview.
We are looking to hire as soon as possible—reliable, motivated candidates will be prioritized.
