Roles & Opportunities

Sika is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team. 

At Sika, the Project Engineer will assume project leadership and overall responsibility for Automotive Technologies in damping, sealing, and reinforcing. They will drive activities to meet timing needs through:

  • Managing DFMEA and DVR&R activity through launch
  • Securing application design approval
  • Managing tooling budgets and overall project cost targets
  • Working with customer engineering and factory support to achieve results
Job Description

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support Sika materials and application strategy to meet customer statement of requirements.
  • Support Account Management, R&D and Marketing to quote and secure new business opportunities.
  • Manage project timelines from award through 90 days post-launch.
  • Meet regularly with OEM platform engineering teams to develop and validate solutions to platform performance issues.
  • Review customer material and test specifications, statements of requirements, etc. and ensure Sika product conformance. 
  • Assume leadership of the project team responsible to bring parts to production.  Facilitate resolution of any associated resource issues with appropriate department management at the time the team is formed (Program Management).
  • Initiate, update, and maintain PLM software project space.
  • Develop working relationships with Sika Japan and China offices to ensure JOEM customer requirements for technical solutions and design and part deliveries are met. 
  • Establish DVP&R's and DFMEA's and ensure design verification of parts - including customer on-site validation.
  • Ensure design reviews are complete and drawings released in accordance with department procedures.
  • Manage engineering changes from quote approval by the customer to implementation at the manufacturing plant.
  • Maintain tooling budget and ensure all required actions taken to enable customer payments on time.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customer interfaces and interdepartmental groups.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by your supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Requires minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in Engineering
  • 1-3 years of application engineering or Program Management required, preferably in the Automotive Industry
  • Must have worked with JOEM's including Toyota and Honda to launch new parts and Eng. changes
  • Must have PC proficiency including MS Office and project management software

Preferred Skills

  • Speaking Japanese and ability to read & interpret technical communications a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical & quantitative skills as well as strong communication
  • Capable of creating strong internal & external relationships with customers, vendors, and contacts across business groups
  • Familiarity with plastic injection molding and tooling as well as part design is highly recommended
