Job description

JOB SUMMARY 

The Club Racquet Sports Associate is responsible for the daily operation of the Racquet Sports Plaza activities which includes indoor and outdoor tennis, pickleball, paddle ball and the Courtside Pro Shop.  This fast-paced department will greet all members and guest and assist with their racquet sports needs  including daily operations, food, beverage and retail duties.  Must be proficient with verbal and written communications, answering the phone, scheduling court reservations, lessons, clinics and mixers. The Racquet Sports Associate is responsible for the administrative support of day–to- day operations for the Racquets staff including filing, taking messages, cleaning, organizing, and other office duties.  Must be over 18 years of age and have current TABC certification.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Racquet Shop Associate is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Courtside Pro Shop or Tennis Office including customer service, sales, inventory management and completing daily operational checklist.
  • Maintains designated areas in a neat, clean and orderly manner to present a professional and welcoming environment to members, guests and prospects.
  • Helps answer general racquets questions about pricing, merchandise, and programs.
  • Responsible for operational and technical duties, answering phones, and booking tennis reservations. 
  • Assists Racquets professionals daily.
  • Responsible for roll drying the outdoor courts after rain and grooming the padel courts.
  • Assists with office tasks and needs such as Excel, Word, copying, faxing, and filing. 
  • Assists with emails, websites, and Houstonian app communication to racquets membership.
  • Billing of programs including the junior program and Fay school.
  • Assists with month end inventory and ordering supplies as assigned.
  • Must be able to set up ball machine and operate it properly for members.
  • Perform any other tasks or projects assigned. Performs all duties in a safe manner. 
  • Assists in making brochures for the tennis programs.
  • Assists Racquets staff when needed to pick up kids from the Bungalow and assists in escorting kids under 12 on restroom breaks.
  • Protect the establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Computer experience, Word, Excel, Internet 
  • Customer service experience in a high-volume setting
  • Hours required: Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs.


LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS 

  • TABC license.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:
  • Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 30 lbs. On occasion push a 50 lb. dolly. Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment most of the time and sometimes work outdoors in extreme temperatures.  
  • Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
  • Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
  • Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
