Job description

RJN Group employees can answer yes to all of those and more. Currently we are seeking a Project Engineer to join the RJN family.
Position Summary:
Complete and oversee a variety of professional assignments in one or more specialized areas of municipal engineering involving research, planning, design, construction and maintenance of water, sanitary, storm water, transportation and other municipal projects.
Position Responsibilities:
• Prepare and check detail plans, design calculations, cost estimations and recommendations prepared by other engineers for completeness, mathematical accuracy and conformity to engineering practices and standards.
• Compile and analyze engineering data and prepare conclusions and recommendations.
• Design and prepare preliminary and final plans for water, sanitary, storm water, transportation and other municipal projects.
• Discuss plans, specifications and work schedules with contractors, utility companies and other governmental agencies.
• Participate in studies to determine sufficiency of existing water, sanitary, storm water, transportation and other municipal systems.
• Estimate cost of projects and write contracts and specifications for labor, materials and equipment.
• Develop preliminary engineering plans to determine construction feasibility and estimated costs.
• Meet with representatives of private industry, local organizations and citizens to discuss proposed municipal construction activity.
• Recommend construction methods best suited to soil types encountered.
• Prepare final layout drawings
• Prepare studies and complete designs of municipal projects of all classifications.
• Serve as quality assurance engineer reviewing plans, testing or construction for municipal projects including construction supervision
• Provide engineering design and construction services and field support
Minimum Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Excellent communication skills; ability to convey information effectively; understand ideas and information presented in writing and verbally; including presentations
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Proficient with standard Auto CAD platforms
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
• NASSCO Certified (PACP/MACP/LACP/CIPP)
• OSHA 10 Hour Certified
• Various hydraulic modeling software
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Experience in municipal water, wastewater, storm water and paving projects
• Experience in the preparation of plans and project reports for municipal projects

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
• Personal Protective Equipment: None required in office. If working in field, must wear steel-toe boots, Class 2 or Class 3 safety vest, high visibility T-shirt, leather gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and other standard equipment required by assignment or job task.
