🔥 TOP PRIORITY – MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a true Test Engineer / Test Development Engineer, not a Test Operator or Test Technician.

The most important requirement is hands-on experience with:

  • ICT – In-Circuit Testing
  • Flying Probe Testing
  • Circuit Card Assemblies / PCBAs
  • Test Development and Test Programming
  • Programming test equipment from scratch
  • Test parameter design
  • Test fixturing
  • Troubleshooting
  • Electronic theory
  • Understanding and interpreting customer test requirements

The candidate must be capable of understanding customer requirements, determining how a circuit card needs to be tested, developing the testing methodology, and programming/developing the test solution.

This role requires TEST DEVELOPMENT—not simply operating or maintaining test equipment.

🎯 WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Electrical Test Engineer / Senior Test Engineer who has strong hands-on experience developing testing solutions for circuit card assemblies, circuit boards, or PCBAs.

The engineer should be able to:

  • Understand customer requirements and product/test specifications.
  • Determine how the product should be tested.
  • Design the testing methodology.
  • Develop and program test solutions from scratch.
  • Troubleshoot complex circuit card and testing problems.
  • Understand electronic theory.
  • Design test parameters and fixtures.
  • Work directly with customers regarding technical testing requirements.
  • Serve as a technical SME.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced Test Engineers.

CRITICAL TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

1. ICT – In-Circuit Testing

Strong hands-on ICT experience is highly important.

2. Flying Probe Testing

Strong hands-on Flying Probe experience is highly important.

3. Circuit Card Assembly / PCBA Experience

Strong understanding of circuit card assemblies, printed circuit boards, manufacturing test processes, and electronics is critical.

4. Test Development

The candidate must be able to develop testing solutions, not simply run existing programs.

5. Test Programming

The candidate should have experience programming test equipment and developing test programs from scratch.

6. Troubleshooting

Strong engineering-level troubleshooting experience involving circuit cards and testing problems is required.

🚨 IMPORTANT: TEST ENGINEER vs. TEST TECHNICIAN

Test Operator – NOT A FIT

A Test Operator generally:

  • Hooks the circuit board into the machine.
  • Runs an existing program.
  • Receives test results.
  • Performs basic equipment operation.

Do NOT submit Test Operators.

⚠️ Test Technician – GENERALLY NOT A FIT

A Test Technician may troubleshoot equipment, set up testing programs, or modify existing templates.

However, the Client specifically warned that technicians may describe template modification as "programming."

Unless the candidate truly has the engineering background and test-development capabilities, they are NOT the right level.

Test Engineer – TARGET

The candidate must be capable of:

  • Understanding customer requirements.
  • Determining how the product should be tested.
  • Designing the testing methodology.
  • Developing test programs.
  • Programming from scratch.
  • Troubleshooting at an engineering level.
  • Working directly with customers.
  • Serving as the technical SME.

Think: TEST DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER — not machine operator.

🎓 EDUCATION – REQUIRED

One of the following:

  • BSEE – Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • BSEET – Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology
  • MSEE – Master of Science in Electrical Engineering

A Physics degree could possibly be considered.

An Electrical Engineering Technology background could also potentially work.

Mechanical Engineering is generally not the appropriate background for this position.

The candidate needs a strong education and understanding of electronic theory.

EXPERIENCE

Official requirement: 6+ years of experience.

However, the exact quality and relevance of experience matters considerably.

Exact ICT/Flying Probe circuit card experience can potentially outweigh total years of experience.

Do NOT automatically reject a strong candidate simply because they are below six years if their experience is directly aligned.
