Job description

Join the Tenney Resort Ski Patrol team and help keep our mountain safe, responsive, and welcoming for all guests. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for strong skiers with a passion for safety, teamwork, and outdoor adventure. Position Summary: Ski Patrol is an essential group of licensed emergency medical responders on the mountain to ensure all employee's and visitors' safety at the Area and in case of emergencies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Follow and ensure others follow resort safety rules. Administer first aid and transportation at the resort and in outdoor environments with the goal of transferring injured employees or guests to higher levels of medical care appropriately and when necessary. Use of toboggans and other outdoor transportation devices to transport injured employees or guests to appropriate medical facilitiesProper execution of lift evacuations in the event of lift malfunction. Check and report on trial conditions. Perform trail checks, trail openings and closings in an efficient and safe manner. Perform trail maintenance tasks. Maintain hazard mitigation infrastructure, including identification and mitigation of hazards in a timely manner and as appropriate.Complete Incident Reports in a timely manner and review for completeness and thoroughness.Continuously monitor equipment inventory and report needs to supervisors or management in a timely manner. Dispatch patrollers to necessary tasks and help direct trail check rotation. Coordinate first aid responses. Monitor rescue calls and responses.Schedule and implement sweep procedures. Report on weather and snow conditions.Review daily logs for completeness.Identify injured, lost, out-of-control, or reckless skiers and snowboarders and respond appropriately. Perform skier education and assist guests with resort information.Patrol within assigned areas. Transportation of toboggans and equipment up chairlifts to assigned stations. Participate in daily training. Accident Investigation recognition. Assist in Accident Investigation documentation. Assist in Risk Management procedures. Communicate problems to supervisor in a timely manner. Search for missing persons. Participate in lift evacuations.Performs support duties at races and other special events. Operate resort equipment according to resort policies and procedures. Perform all tasks in an environmentally sound manner, especially in regard to proper disposal of all waste products, including medical waste.Assist other departments as needed.Other duties as may be assigned by a supervisor, the Patrol Director or other resort management.Minimum Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess current emergency medical certification recognized by the state of New Hampshire (e.g., National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Care Technician, NH Emergency Medical Technician, NH Wilderness First Responder or equivalent) or the ability to obtain such certification prior to season start.Current certification or ability to obtain CPR certification prior to season start. Expert/Advanced skiing or snowboarding technical skills with ability to ski/ride all terrain in all conditions at the Area (most jobs are performed on skis and ski boots or snowboards and snowboard boots). Able to transport injured, disabled or persons not able to ski/ride to the base area in transport toboggans (on the job training available).Able to transport equipment (e.g., bamboo, poles, rope, fencing, drills, signs, first aid supplies, oxygen, medical equipment, etc.) on skis or a snowboard throughout the resort in a safe and expedient manner.Willingness to work in an environment where possible exposure exists to potentially hazardous human bodily fluids and chemicals used on the mountain.Strong team focus and ability to work with other patrollers, managers, and all area employees in a friendly and collaborative way.Good basic reading and writing skills. Ability to communicate in an understandable manner and capable of logically present a point of view.  The ability to handle customer complaints and to interact with guests and staff in a respectful manner.Must be comfortable completing work in potentially stressful conditions outdoors in any weather. Tenney Resort & Recreation LLC is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
