The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University seeks applicants for the position of Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance to begin August 1, 2026. The Director of Academic Support and Bar Performance is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive academic support program that promotes student success throughout law school and enhances graduates’ performance on the bar examination. The Director provides individualized and programmatic support to students at all stages of the J.D. curriculum, integrates academic support and bar readiness throughout the academic experience, and collaborates closely with faculty and administration to advance institutional goals related to retention, academic achievement, and bar passage. The successful candidate will report to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.

• Design, oversee, and deliver academic support programming focused on the development of foundational law school skills, including legal analysis, case reading, outlining, exam writing, time management, and study strategies.
• Provide individualized academic counseling and coaching to students seeking to improve academic performance, including students on academic probation or readmitted.
• Collaborate with faculty to align academic support initiatives with course objectives and assessment methods.
• Promote a school-wide culture that frames academic support as an integral and proactive component of legal education rather than as remedial programming.
• Lead the law school’s strategic approach to bar preparation and bar success, ensuring that bar readiness is integrated across the curriculum and co-curricular programming.
• Design and oversee bar-focused academic support initiatives, including workshops, courses, diagnostic assessments, and post-graduation support programs.
• Work with commercial bar preparation vendors to coordinate programming and ensure alignment with institutional goals and student needs.
• Provide individualized bar preparation counseling to graduating students and alumni, including assistance with study planning, performance evaluation, and exam‑taking strategies.
• Monitor and analyze bar passage data to identify trends, risk factors, and opportunities for programmatic improvement.
• Collaborate with the Director of Assessment to assess the effectiveness of academic support and bar preparation programs using qualitative and quantitative data, including academic outcomes, retention, and bar passage results.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for the Dean, Academic Dean, and faculty leadership regarding academic support initiatives, bar passage strategies, and resource allocation.
• Remain current on developments in legal education, bar examination reform, learning science, and best practices in academic support.
• Provide leadership and supervision to academic support staff, adjunct instructors, and Dean’s Scholars, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluation as applicable.
• Manage the academic support budget and allocate resources effectively in support of programmatic priorities.
• Represent the academic support program in faculty meetings, committees, and external professional organizations as appropriate.
• Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

• J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (active or inactive status acceptable).
• Demonstrated experience in academic support, bar preparation, legal education, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of law school pedagogy, assessment, and the structure and content of U.S. bar examinations.
• Genuine desire to work closely with students and faculty.
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and students.
• Commitment to student success, inclusion, and professional formation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Prior teaching experience in law school academic support, bar preparation, or doctrinal or skills courses preferred.
• Experience in law firm or similar legal practice preferred.
• Experience with data‑informed assessment of student learning and bar outcomes preferred.
• Familiarity with issues affecting student performance, including learning differences, test anxiety, and equity in legal education preferred.

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and evenings as needed to deliver programming to FLEX students.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
