TheCivilEngineerwillbe responsibleforprovidingsupport to theCivil Engineeringteam andguidance to Strat Dev,REand DevwhileassistingtheDev Engand Exec Enggroupwithearly-throughlate-stagecivildesignplans.This role will includecollaboration withPermitting,Geotechand Civilsubject matter experts (SME),reviewofHydrology Studies,stormwaterdesigndevelopment,supportingentitlementacquisition,andprovidingPre-constructionsupport. As projects move from Dev Eng into Exec Eng, theCivil Engineer will supportPre-Construction, Exec Eng,Engineering Construction, OwnersEngandProcurement (EPC)detailedcivildesign reviewsand provide Civil Engineeringrecommendations.Periodic support duringthe constructionphase,collaborationwith Compliance onstormwatermanagement,support ofrequests for informationandproject close outsupportforwind,solar PV andBESSprojectswill be expected.

Designplanreviews maybeperformed,optimized, and reviewed utilizing AutoCAD, Civil3Dand Revu Bluebeam.This position requires the candidate to have exposureandknowledge of the regulatory,permitting, and constructionprocess for land development projects.Excellent communication, taskmanagementand planning skills needed, in addition tothe requirement for breadth intechnicalknowledge.

The successful candidateshouldhave experience in the design, engineering and analysis ofcivildesignsand studies,and stormwater management systems from 5-500 acres. Experience withwind,PV systems andBESSranging from 500 kW to200+MWis preferable.

While civil engineering is the primary qualification, the role will require the review of information related to all practical elements ofwind,PV,and BESS design. The successful applicant, while not an expert, will be comfortable with high-level review of all elements of practical wind,BESS,and PV system design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely withCivil Engineering team andproject stakeholder teams within AESand otherstosupport andmanage project timelines

  • Assistthe Civil Engineering team with thereviewofCivilandHydrology and HydraulicScope of Work andspecificationsdevelopment

  • Review and verifypreliminary studiesofhydrology, hydraulics,stormwater management, andearthworksestimatesamong othersfor projects indevelopment throughEPCstages of development[5%, 10%, 30%,60%, 90%,issue for permit (IFP), andissue for construction (IFC)]with Civil Engineering team

  • Assistthe Civil Engineering teaminpreparation of preliminary documents fordevelopment,permitting,andgradingplans

  • Evaluate proposals forengineering studies,engineering,and constructionservicesforproject civil works

  • Perform preliminary site visitswith project teamstoidentifysite development and construction risks, andassessprojectconstraints

  • Coordinatewithand supportproject stakeholderson Civilengineering itemsduringdevelopmentthroughexecution phasesofprojects

  • Review,commentand supportoninternaldesign deliverablesduring development through executionproject phases

  • Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walksoccasionallytoidentifyjob-site hazards

  • Supportthe Civil Engineering team withconstruction,contractors,and projectteamengineersto manage project timelinesas necessary

  • Support and perform detailed civil designreviewsdiligence reviews for Merger and Acquisition projects

  • Complete ALTA Survey review for projects in developmentfor completion and deficient information

Engineering Support

  • Assistin the creation ofspecifications and design standards for civil works, construction stormwater, and postdevelopmentstormwater managementin accordance withapplicable codesand best practices

  • Provide site gradingandlayoutrecommendations based onexisting conditions,proposed designelements,and equipment standards for project sites

  • Recommendstormwater and detention design optimization to maximize site reliability and reducecosts

  • Confirm civil engineering reports and studies are complete and incorporated in the projectIFP and IFCdocuments

  • Collaborate with Asset Management team to troubleshoot existing projects or develop repair and remediation plans

  • Develop design solutions for repairs and modifications to systems, and "close the gap" between various AES subcontractors and vendors where needed

  • Familiaritywith regionalAHJ entitlementrequirements and standardprocesses

Growth and Leadership

  • Improveand develop processes for theexecution ofsafe,quality,and high-performanceprojects

  • Mentor and educate team on changing trends in technology, bestpractices,and safety

  • Participate in AESCE's growth planning process by contributing to process improvement task forces and other strategic planning activities

Skills and Qualifications

Primary Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree inCivilEngineeringor equivalent technical field

  • Minimum of4years'professional experience incivil engineeringdesign,landdevelopment,construction,andstormwateranalysiswith a strong technical background

  • Experiencein real-worldcivil, geotechnical,and stormwater managementdesignincludingearthworkanalysis,drainage,stormwater flowanalysisand road design

  • Field experienceon large civil projects, including troubleshooting,quality evaluation, and construction support

  • Experience withCivil Engineeringstandardsand codesin the US

  • Experience with Civil 3D or other advanced modeling tools

"Plus" Qualifications

  • PE qualifications, or on track to become qualified

  • Master's degree in civil engineering

  • 2-5+years of experience withSolarPV,Battery Energy Storage Systemor Winddesign and interconnection

  • Geotechnical knowledge and experienceduringprojectdesign anddevelopment
