Job description

Transportation Department Supervisor

Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, oversee the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Department in the areas of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair; assure timely repairs to District vehicles and equipment; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in automotive, truck and bus maintenance and repair, including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. 2. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Preventive maintenance practices and procedures; applicable codes, laws, and regulations related to assigned activities; principles and practices of supervision and training; oral and written communication skills; record-keeping techniques; operation of a computer and applicable software; inventory methods and practices; proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Department the areas of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair; train, supervise and evaluate assigned personnel; maintain adequate stock levels; maintain records and prepare reports; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: • Valid Driver's License (Class B or higher) • Possession or ability to obtain with six months of employment a valid California Driver's license • TB Test Clearance • Air Brake Endorsement • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance Note: See the job description for more details regarding the position duties and requirements.

The Coachella Valley is a valley in Southern California which extends for approximately 45 mi in Riverside County southeast from the San Bernardino Mountains to the northern shore of the Salton Sea. Coachella Valley Unified School District is located about 30 miles east of Palm Springs off Highway 86. The valley connects with the Greater Los Angeles area to the west via the San Gorgonio Pass, a major transportation corridor that includes I-10 and the Union Pacific Railroad.
