Description
Morgan Corp is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support our fleet, maintenance, and heavy equipment operations. This position serves as the bridge between equipment operations and safety, helping mechanics, welders, technicians, truck drivers, and supervisors perform critical work safely.

The successful candidate will be a trusted resource within our Equipment Division, someone with mechanical knowledge and practical experience to earn credibility with the workforce while driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
We are not looking for someone who only knows safety from a classroom. We’re looking for someone who understands how work gets done in a heavy equipment repair environment. The ideal candidate has spent time around mechanics, welders, technicians, truck drivers, or heavy equipment operations and can confidently discuss repairs, maintenance procedures, shop hazards, and safe work practices with experienced craftspeople. If you've turned wrenches, worked in a fabrication shop, maintained equipment, supervised mechanics, or supported maintenance operations—and you're passionate about keeping people safe—we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities
Primary Job Responsibility Partner with Equipment Division leadership and the corporate safety team to develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs that protect employees, equipment, and the environment while supporting efficient maintenance and fleet operations.
  • Serve as a primary safety resource for Equipment Division personnel, including mechanics, welders, technicians, lube technicians, truck drivers, and supervisors.
  • Conduct safety observations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments within shop and field maintenance environments.
  • Develop and deliver division-specific safety training programs (Orientation, compliance, etc.).
  • Support DOT compliance efforts and driver qualification programs.
  • Assist with incident, injury, vehicle, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development (Learning Teams).
  • Facilitate Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development for maintenance, fabrication, and repair activities.
  • Evaluate maintenance operations and recommend practical solutions that improve safety, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Assist with environmental compliance, hazardous material management, chemical tracking, and waste disposal programs.
  • Travel to project sites to support field maintenance operations, training initiatives, audits, and compliance efforts (0-15% travel).
  • Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices applicable to fleet and heavy equipment operations.
  • Provide regular safety performance updates and recommendations for Equipment Division leadership.
  • Consult, inform, and advise management regarding Equipment Division safety performance.
A Typical Day Might Include:
  • Observing a major component change-out in the shop and coaching crews on hazard recognition.
  • Reviewing welding and fabrication activities for compliance and best practices.
  • Assisting mechanics with developing a Job Safety Analysis for a complex repairs
  • Traveling to a project site to support field maintenance operations.
  • Investigating a near miss and developing practical corrective actions
  • Delivering direct training that employees can immediately apply in the field.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
This position requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand heavy
equipment maintenance and repair operations. Candidates with prior experience as a
mechanic, technician, welder, fabricator, maintenance supervisor, equipment manager, or related roles encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in safety, maintenance, fleet operations, equipment management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance, repair operations, welding, fabrication, and shop safety practices. 
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root cause.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT regulations, and fleet compliance requirements.
  • OSHA 510, OSHA 511, CHST, CSP, SMS, or other applicable certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.
