Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Fleet Manager the position will perform daily cleaning, washing, preparation and service of fleet vehicles. The Fleet Assistant will be responsible for fueling vehicles and then moving them back inside after completion of trips. This position will assist in the movement of vehicles for service and other purposes. This position will also have ability to drive buses after obtaining the proper credentials. Strive to provide excellent customer service in a professional and congenial manner.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
  • Complete inspections and check the condition of all vehicles’ tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment.
  • Complete Fueling, interior and exterior cleaning of vehicle after travel.
  • Report any malfunctions or repairs needed.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining buses as well as checking and cleaning bus restrooms after travels have been completed.
  • Make minor repairs to vehicles including filters, wipers, or lights where necessary.
  • Assist with moving vehicles to offsite service locations.
  • Perform cleaning, disinfecting and detailing of all fleet vehicles.
  • Responsible for conformance with the policies as established by the College's Board of Trustees and the procedures that apply to the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment
  • Mechanical Knowledge with any applicable certifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDL with passenger endorsement

Physical Requirements: With or without assistance

  • Ability to drive a bus for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-45 lb. loads over 50 yd.
  • Ability to work on feet (standing, walking, constant movement)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, climb, crawl, and lift objects
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with other employees.
