Fleet Manager
Stutsman Transportation, Inc. is hiring for an experienced Fleet Manager to support our OTR drivers at the Hills, Iowa location.

About the Job
The Fleet Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily movement of Stutsman Transportation, Inc.’s asset-based fleet while providing exceptional service to key customer accounts. This role supports drivers throughout their routes, manages transportation systems and electronic logs, resolves operational issues timely and efficiently, and ensures all activities comply with federal and state laws including but not limited to FMCSA’s hours of service regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide daily operational support for fleet drivers and assigned key accounts
  • Use transportation management software (TMS) to schedule, dispatch, track and update load information
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery times and assist drivers with load details, planning and routing questions
  • Perform data entry including entering load information, preparing bills of lading and producing delivery receipts
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations including but not limited to hours-of-service using TMS and electronic logging systems
  • Assist drivers with electronic logging device (ELD) questions and troubleshooting
  • Deliver exceptional customer service via phone, email and/or other direct communication with key accounts
  • Verify that driver certifications and trainings meet company and FMCSA requirements
  • Ensure all FMCSA/DOT requirements are enforced and followed for load assignments
  • Coordinate routing trucks with the shop for preventative maintenance, unscheduled repairs and/or road breakdowns
  • Work with the safety, shop and other applicable company personnel to legally and judiciously handle accidents, accident claims, cargo claims events or securements – advise driver to take appropriate steps after an accident until safety, shop, and/or others can get involved
  • Monitor upcoming DOT physical expirations and notify the safety team for scheduling of renewals
  • Update DOT physical, license and endorsement expiration dates in electronic system ongoing
  • Serve as a backup for transportation payroll as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of transportation and/or logistics experience is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understand and follow freight values and insurance limits set forth by the company
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations is preferred
  • Familiarity with Samsara or similar ELD system is preferred
  • Experience with TruckMate (TMW) or similar TMS platform is preferred
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation
