About the Role:

The Full Time Maintenance Worker in the Parking Division plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of parking facilities in Towson, Maryland. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing repairs, and enhancing the overall user experience for customers utilizing the parking services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team to identify maintenance needs and implement solutions promptly. Additionally, this role involves monitoring equipment and facilities to prevent issues before they arise, thereby contributing to a seamless parking experience. Ultimately, the Maintenance Worker will help maintain a positive image of the parking division through diligent upkeep and responsive service. Must be available to work M-F 6:00 am - 2:30 pm and an occasional weekend.


EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Assist in performing maintenance and cleaning tasks on parking equipment to include Skidata and Flash; which includes the Pay-On-Foot machines, gates, columns, and PC’s.
  • Assist with the general maintenance of facilities (replacing light bulbs, wiping down elevator cabs, preserving the appearance of the interior and exterior of the garages)
  • Ability to walk/climb garage stairwells up to 10 levels to monitor the safety and cleanliness of the stairwells
  • Assist in emptying trashcans in the garages and offices
  • Assist in painting areas of the garages where needed (walls, curbs, islands, doors) and to make sure these areas are maintained and clean
  • Assist in the landscaping efforts to make sure all beds surrounding the garages are maintained and looking neat (weeding, mulching, pruning of shrubbery, mowing/trimming of grass, watering when needed)
  • Assist/Monitor the weekly collection of revenue from the Pay-On-Foot machines
  • Assist in performing maintenance and cleaning tasks in the garages and lots as directed by the maintenance supervisor to ensure that all dirt, dust, debris, snow, and ice is removed from all areas of the facility using brooms, blowers, and other hand tools
  • Ability to complete work climbing ladders up to 30 ft. tall
  • Assist in making sure all janitorial/cleaning supplies are in check and stocked. This includes making sure all offices are well stocked with supplies
  • Report any suspicious activity or safety hazards to supervisor
  • Assist Garage Attendants as directed by the maintenance supervisor to resolve customer complaints/issues
  • Resolve customer complaints independently without the need for a supervisor
  • Become familiar with how the parking systems work; be able to quickly troubleshoot common issues with the Skidata and Flash equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate a work truck
  • Maintain a professional appearance and come to work in uniform

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of safe use and operation of tools and other equipment in maintaining and repairing all parking equipment.
  • Knowledge of various parts, devices, and electronic/mechanical operation of parking meters.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws, occupational hazards, and appropriate safety precautions.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform work requiring physical strength lifting up to 50 pounds; requires standing and walking for extended periods of time, May be exposed to adverse conditions such as inclement weather, traffic, chemicals, and paint for cleaning/repairing parking equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School graduate.
  • Valid Maryland Driver’s License required
