Job description

We are seeking an experienced Emissions/VRU/Flare Technician to support oil and gas production operations by maintaining and monitoring vapor recovery and flare systems. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while maintaining safe and efficient facility operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs), flare systems, emissions monitoring, and regulatory compliance, including familiarity with EPA Quad O, Quad Oa, and Quad Ob regulations. This position will work closely with production teams to support environmental monitoring and ensure systems are operating without leaks or compliance issues.


  • Conduct routine emissions monitoring at tank batteries, and compression facilities.
  • Perform LDAR repairs following all regulatory requirements, addressing leaks found during LDAR inspections conducted with approved OGI cameras and gas detection instruments
  • Inspect and monitor thief hatches, pressure relief valves, pneumatic controllers, vapor recovery units (VRUs), flares, and combustors.
  • Quantify emissions using portable analyzers and approved methodologies.
  • Document inspection findings in company data management systems.
  • Initiate work orders for equipment requiring repair and verify corrective actions.
  • Support regulatory reporting and maintain required environmental records.
  • Assist operations teams in identifying emission reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain calibration and functionality of monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA OOOOa / OOOOb / OOOOc (as applicable).

  • Experience operating or maintaining VRU and flare systems in oil and gas production environments.
  • Strong understanding of EPA emissions regulations, including: Quad O, Quad Oa, Quad Ob.
  • Experience with LDAR programs and leak detection processes.
  • Knowledge of closed vent systems (CVS) and emissions control equipment.
  • Background in production operations, facility operations, or environmental compliance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain field equipment.
  • Strong awareness of environmental and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work a 5/2 schedule with rotational on-call responsibilities.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent walking across uneven terrain. Climbing ladders and tank stairs. Working in hot, cold, and windy field conditions. Lifting equipment up to 40–50 lbs. Driving company vehicles on lease roads daily.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
