What is a flagship general manager?

A Flagship General Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, staff, and performance of a company’s main or most prominent retail location, known as the 'flagship' store. This role involves ensuring excellent customer service, implementing company policies, managing budgets, and driving sales to set standards for other locations. Flagship General Managers often serve as brand ambassadors, representing the company's image and values to customers and the broader community. They are tasked with maintaining high visual merchandising standards and leading large teams to achieve business goals.

What are some unique challenges faced by a flagship general manager compared to managing a standard retail location?

Flagship General Managers often encounter unique challenges such as overseeing larger teams, maintaining elevated brand standards, and serving as a showcase location for new products and corporate initiatives. They typically handle higher customer traffic and media attention, requiring strong crisis management and communication skills. Additionally, flagship stores may pilot new technologies or processes, meaning the General Manager must be adaptable and proactive in implementing changes while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a flagship general manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Flagship General Manager, you need strong leadership abilities, retail management experience, and a proven record in driving sales and operational excellence, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills help you inspire staff and deliver outstanding customer experiences. These skills are crucial for achieving financial targets, maintaining brand standards, and ensuring the overall success of a flagship location.

Restaurant Assistant General Manager – Seattle, WA

$100,000 Base + Aggressive Performance Bonus + Unmatched Benefits Package

Dynamic, high-growth Seattle restaurant group is seeking a vibrant, high-energy Assistant General Manager to serve as the right-hand leader for one of our flagship properties in Seattle, WA. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven hospitality professional ready to take ownership, drive results, and grow within a forward-thinking organization that values excellence, innovation, and team success.

We operate upscale, high-volume restaurants with a modern edge — known for outstanding service, creative menus, and an energetic atmosphere that keeps guests coming back. As Assistant General Manager, you will partner closely with the General Manager to lead a talented front-of-house team, deliver unforgettable guest experiences, optimize operations, and contribute directly to top-line growth and bottom-line performance.

This hands-on leadership role demands a strong operator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds high-performing teams, and consistently executes at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Manager-on-Duty, owning daily service execution, team performance, and operational excellence during peak periods.
  • Lead by example in delivering elevated hospitality standards across every guest touchpoint.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop a high-performing front-of-house team through real-time feedback, structured programs, and career pathing.
  • Oversee all front-of-house operations, including opening/closing procedures, floor leadership, and seamless service flow.
  • Manage labor costs effectively through intelligent scheduling and deployment while hitting or exceeding financial targets.
  • Drive sales growth via exceptional service, guest engagement, upselling initiatives, and team motivation.
  • Support beverage program operations, including inventory management, ordering, cost control, and menu execution.
  • Maintain impeccable standards for cleanliness, organization, facility presentation, and compliance.
  • Resolve guest concerns swiftly and professionally, turning potential issues into loyalty-building moments.
  • Partner with senior leadership on team performance, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience as an Assistant General Manager (or equivalent) in high-volume ($3M+) or upscale dining environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build genuine connections with guests, team members, and leadership.
  • Versatility and willingness to jump into any front-of-house role as needed.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including labor management, cost controls, inventory, and P&L accountability.
  • Experience supporting or managing beverage programs is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays to lead during peak business times.
  • Passion for hospitality and a genuine desire to grow within a structured, team-oriented, and high-achieving organization.

Compensation & Benefits – Designed to Attract Top Talent

  • Competitive Base Salary: $100,000 per year
  • Aggressive Performance Bonus: Substantial, performance-driven incentive program with significant upside potential based on sales, profitability, guest satisfaction, and team metrics (no cap on earning potential for standout performers).
  • Unmatched Benefits Package:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (employer pays a generous portion of premiums)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities within a growing multi-concept group
  • Employee discounts at all group restaurants
  • Life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Wellness initiatives and additional perks tailored to support work-life balance
