| Aspect | Flagger Person | Traffic Control Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Certifications | Typically requires flagger training certification | Requires flagger certification and may include additional traffic control training |
| Work Environment | On-site at construction zones, directing traffic | Involves setting up and maintaining traffic control devices, often more technical |
| Employer & Industry | Construction, roadwork, utility projects | Construction, infrastructure, transportation projects |
While both roles involve managing traffic safety at work sites, a Flagger Person primarily directs traffic using hand signals and flags, focusing on immediate traffic control. A Traffic Control Technician may handle setup, maintenance, and installation of traffic control devices, often requiring additional technical skills. Both roles are essential for safe work zones, but Traffic Control Technicians typically have broader responsibilities and certifications.
