The General Laborer works in varying aspects of the construction field. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA, State regulations, and all safety policies and procedures;Report any problems and/or safety hazards to your foreman or, in their absence the crew lead or Superintendent or Safety OfficerIdentify utility linesTake initiative in setting up and cleaning up work site, ensuring all tools and equipment are cleaned and properly storedBolt, nail, align and move materialsSignal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignmentCarry lumber, pipe, tools and other types of construction materialsDig holes and trenches with hand toolsLevel dirt or materials to grade as specification requiresAssist with positioning, joining, aligning and sealing pipe sectionsMix and pour concrete, spread and compact asphalt, compacts dirt using toolsAssist with building of various structures and formsAssist with erecting and removing shoring of trenchesMop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protectionSpray materials such as water, sand, vinyl pain through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfacesSweep and clean jobsite, yard, vehicles, equipment, or buildingAssist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devicesGrind, sand, and polish surfacesMeasure and cut materials as requiredDismantle forms, mount pipe hangers, and cut and attach insulating materialsWork as a flagger for traffic control after certificationAttend training and informational sessions as requiredOther duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:High school diploma/GED preferred2+ years of construction industry experience preferredAbility to travel to Anchor's main Yard sites requiredAbility to follow basic instructions in English requiredAbility to use basic tools requiredBasic understanding of construction principles and procedures requiredAbility to work overtime as needed requiredComfort working in an outdoors high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations requiredAbility to work independently or as an active member of a teamAbility to operate a manual transmission vehicle preferredSpanish fluency a plus Physical Demands:HeavyExpected to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying objects Lifting and lowering ramps multiple times daily Work Environment :ModerateOccasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.)Exposed to the outdoor elements (cold, heat, rain, snow, etc.)Noise level is loud Pay Range: $18 - $25 per hour Benefits:Anchor Construction Corporation offers competitive salary, paid holidays, 401k retirement plan, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, short term disability, accidental death & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, DC commuter benefits, and voluntary insurances such as long term disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, accident coverage and whole life insurance.
