Responsibilities

As a Sr Traffic Control Techyou will be managing and coordinating flagger activities as assigned for telecommunications construction work.

In addition, you will: 

  • Place, remove, and repair temporary and permanent traffic control devices
  • Coordinate and supervise traffic flaggers in construction areas
  • Hold responsibility for managing time and administrative functions for direct reports
  • Comply with all organizational and regulatory safety standards and ensure all team members attend and execute pre-task safety planning requirements each day
  • Inspect traffic control devices to ensure functionality, placement, and safety compliance
  • Manage the direction of traffic using signs, paddles, hand gestures, radios, and/or verbal communication
  • Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions
  • Manage day-to-day work zone set up, maintenance, and tear down, meeting or exceeding customer, state, and company expectations
  • Lift, carry, and place up to 50 lbs. of traffic cones and traffic control signs to ensure the safety of the work zone
  • Keep equipment in trucks well-organized and in working order
  • Direct movement of traffic through the site, using signs, hand, and flag signals
  • Warn laborers and drivers when approaching a vehicle that fails to heed signals to prevent accidents and injury to workers
  • Inform drivers of detour routes through construction sites
  • Record the license numbers of traffic control violators for the police
  • Give a hand marker to the last driver in the lineup of one-way traffic for the flagger at the opposite end of the site, signaling clearance for the reverse flow of traffic
  • Write and review maintenance and incident reports for on-site issues or concerns

Qualifications

About You: 

  • Safety is a part of your day-to-day
  • You have an understanding of all phases of telecom construction
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • You have five years of relevant experience in a supervisory role
  • You have a valid Driver’s License
  • You have 3 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role
  • You have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Have the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex and detailed construction and traffic control plans
  • Have the ability to effectively present and direct detailed instructions to team members in small groups
  • Have the ability to perform and understand fundamental mathematical problems, including multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, fractions, whole numbers, and decimals
  • Have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to maintain and submit daily logs and reports
  • Have a valid Flagger Certification
  • Have knowledge and skillful implementation of federal and state regulations for work zone safety and traffic control
  • Have knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) guidelines and the translation of this to control traffic by using proper devices and techniques
  • Have knowledge of safety rules for construction sites and the ability to abide by them
  • You have 500 hours of experience in traffic control flagging
  • You have a basic understanding of construction job sites

Compensation of $23-$26 per hour, depending on the experience.
