POSITION SUMMARY: Tool Maker - Apprentice

We are looking for an experienced Tool Maker to join our dynamic team in Gainesville, Texas. The Tool Maker, under limited supervision, performs a variety of operations to make and repair plastic injection molds.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Assist Tool Makers with daily tooling workload to meet production demands
  • Learn and perform basic mold maintenance, including disassembly, cleaning, greasing, and reassembly of molds
  • Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing tooling issues on the production floor
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and help track mold maintenance schedules
  • Learn machining processes including milling, grinding, lathe operations, EDM, and CNC machining
  • Help remove stuck parts from molds and change over mold inserts as required
  • Assist in fixture builds, repairs, and general tool room projects
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment within the tool room
  • Participate in new tool start-ups and gain understanding of tool design and function
  • Support inventory tracking of tooling supplies and spare parts
  • Follow all company safety policies and standard operating procedures
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by management

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical school coursework in machining, manufacturing, or related field preferred (not required)
  • Interest in machining, tooling, or mechanical trades
  • Ability to learn how to read blueprints and use inspection tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Willingness to receive hands-on training and instruction
  • Ability to work in hot or cold temperature environments for extended periods
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must use hands to handle tools, install components, and operate equipment
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
