Are you a self-starter with a drive to research, problem solve and create efficiencies? If that sounds like you, there will be an opportunity to shine as a Senior Accountant, Real Estate Financial Operations.
In this role, you will play an important part in leveraging the real estate portfolio through sound accounting and financial reporting practices to ensure maximum value for our clients. You will play an instrumental role in developing and completing the financial reporting for the foreign real estate portfolio totaling over $8.5 billion. Outside of the financial reporting cycles, you will have the opportunity to contribute to special projects focused on driving efficiencies across the team.

  • Responsible for the preparation of year-end consolidated financial statements, working papers and reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders in an accurate and timely fashion

  • Taking ownership of a portfolio of properties by loading data, validating uploads, preparing consolidation working papers from detailed property level financial data, and answering financial statement audit queries.

  • Responsible for the preparation of quarterly fund market value updates, entry and validation of loan terms and amortization

  • Leading the annual budget process for a portfolio of properties

  • Researching and preparing accounting policy papers supporting reporting standards and accounting treatment for transactions.

  • Participating in onboarding new investments, system setup, roll up and cascading rules design in the Yardi real estate management system and developing reporting requirements with property managers and asset managers

  • Acting as the accounting point of contact for external property and asset managers


Our Ideal Candidate
  • Completion of CPA designation

  • 5+ years of experience, ideally with exposure to real estate

  • Prior experience with Yardi Asset Management Software is preferred

  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on information presented

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

A highly successful Senior Accountant will contribute to the implementation of efficiencies across the financial reporting cycle and investigate best practices of automation tools and artificial intelligence.
