ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Fixed Income Agency Trader will own Apex's fixed income trading strategy and execution across Treasuries, corporates, municipals, agencies, MBS, and ABS. This role sits at the intersection of markets, product, engineering, and client service-designing scalable workflows, driving platform development, and ensuring best-in-class execution quality, compliance, and client outcomes.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute Apex's fixed income strategy based on market research and intelligence, monitor trends and regulatory changes, and recommend roadmap priorities, market expansion, and client segmentation
  • Design and implement scalable fixed income trading workflows, serve as the business SME with Product and Engineering, define user personas and journey maps, and drive product development and go to market
  • Own end to end connectivity and client onboarding across clients, dealers, and electronic platforms (MarketAxess, Tradeweb, Bloomberg), and streamlining setup and trading
  • Lead user acceptance testing and product validation, develop comprehensive test plans for new instruments and capabilities, and monitor system performance, connectivity health, and SLA compliance.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and pricing with vendors and execution partners, structure commission schedules, markup models, and connectivity fees, and manage relationships with dealers and venues to optimize execution quality and cost
  • Oversee integrations with data vendors, pricing services, and regulatory reporting systems (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE), maintain technical specifications and trading protocols with version control, and support regulatory examinations and audits
  • Ensure compliance with SEC, FINRA, and MSRB regulations, collaborate with Sales, Client Onboarding, Compliance, Operations, and Post Trade teams to resolve trade breaks, settlement issues, and client inquiries, and deliver seamless client experience
  • Track and report KPIs including execution quality, settlement rates, and client satisfaction, and use insights to drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field,
  • 7+ years in fixed income trading operations at brokerage or wealth management firms with deep knowledge of Treasuries, corporates, municipals, agencies, MBS, and ABS
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses required; Series 52 preferred
  • Experience integrating and managing fixed income data feeds, pricing services, and market data.
  • Experience with mentoring junior staff and leading process improvements, with adaptability to changing market and regulatory conditions

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Expertise of the fixed income trade lifecycle from execution through settlement, including pricing methodologies, yield calculations, and market microstructure
  • Strong proficiency with trading platforms, dealer networks, OMS/EMS, user interfaces and workflow tools, and electronic trading protocols
  • Proven commercial acumen in vendor negotiations, pricing structures, and client proposal development.
  • Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities

  • This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.
