Job description


The Senior Research Analyst, Taxable Fixed Income ABS Research role analyzes investment opportunities across various asset-backed asset classes. As a recognized subject matter expert in taxable fixed income research, this job researches, analyzes and monitors markets and trends to recommend investment decisions. This role provides credit leadership for investment opportunities across consumer, commercial, and specialty asset classes for complex structured credit transactions. The Analyst is tasked with making independent investment recommendations while collaborating closely with portfolio management, legal, and risk teams to execute transactions that align with institutional investment objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Evaluates a variety of Investment Grade and Below Investment Grade ABS investment opportunities that encompass various industry sectors and deal structures.

  • Analyzes, structures, prices and manages large and/or complex transactions.

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis used in the underwriting process.

  • Develop detailed cash flow and collateral performance models.

  • Monitors a portfolio of investments, prepare and review reports (credit memos, internal ratings, watch lists, etc.) and make recommendations (buy, sell and hold) to portfolio managers.

  • Enhance investment performance and maximize returns while appropriately balancing risk, analyzing economic/industry forecasts as well as investment approaches and risk scenarios to formulate recommendations for asset allocation.

  • Analyzes economic, industry and company data, and develops detailed financial models to support investment decisions.

  • Assists in maintaining relationships with deal sponsors, investment banks, investment funds, and other deal flow sources.

  • Represents the organization at industry conferences, sponsor meetings, and market events.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with portfolio management, legal, operations, risk management, and compliance teams to ensure seamless transaction execution and ongoing portfolio management

  • Maintains deep knowledge of ABS market dynamics, regulatory developments, rating agency methodologies, consumer/commercial credit trends, and emerging sectors and esoteric asset classes

  • Mentors and develops junior investment professionals while contributing to the development of investment policies, underwriting standards, and analytical frameworks specific to ABS
