It is a stable career path within finance, often offering opportunities for advancement and specialization. Success in this field typically depends on analytical skills, understanding of market dynamics, and proficiency with financial systems and tools.

What is fixed income operations?

Fixed Income Operations refer to the back-office processes and activities that support the trading, settlement, and management of fixed income securities, such as bonds and treasury bills. Professionals in this area ensure the accurate and timely processing of transactions, reconciliation of trades, maintenance of records, and compliance with regulatory requirements. They play a crucial role in mitigating operational risk and supporting the smooth functioning of fixed income markets within financial institutions.

What are some common challenges faced in fixed income operations, and how can new team members effectively navigate them?

New team members may find it challenging to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance. To navigate these challenges, it's important to develop a strong attention to detail, build proficiency with relevant systems (like trade capture and settlement platforms), and communicate proactively with traders, custodians, and other internal teams. Seeking mentorship and clarifying procedures early on can also help new hires adapt more quickly and efficiently.

Excellent organizational skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities help professionals manage high transaction volumes and resolve discrepancies efficiently. Job description

About Riskspan

RiskSpan is a leading source of analytics, modeling, data and risk management solutions for the Consumer and Institutional Finance industries. We solve business problems for clients such as banks, mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities issuers, equity and fixed-income portfolio managers, servicers, and regulators that require our expertise in the market risk, credit risk, operational risk, and information technology domains.

Role Summary

We are looking for an Agency MBS Product Manager to drive the product roadmap and strategy for our agency prepayment analytics and modeling capabilities, while also serving as a key client-facing resource. This role combines product management and client support: you will define requirements, prioritize the backlog, and drive feature development in close partnership with Engineering and our Head of Analytics, while also ensuring clients get fast, knowledgeable answers to their questions. A meaningful part of this role involves our AI-powered product features - RiskSpan has already built AI capabilities into the platform, and this person will help shape and extend them. You will also assist the Sales Engineering team with demos and trials, particularly for the MBS products.

What You'll Do

Product Management

  • Contribute to the agency MBS product roadmap -- define priorities, write requirements, and drive features from concept to launch.
  • Develop deep expertise in RiskSpan's agency prepayment models, MBS analytics, and platform features.
  • Translate client feedback and market trends into structured product requirements for Engineering.
  • Monitor Agency MBS market developments (GSE policy changes, prepayment trends, rate environment) and identify product opportunities.
  • Take an active role in managing and extending RiskSpan's existing AI-powered product features, including tools built on Claude and Claude Code, and help define the roadmap for the next generation of AI capabilities.

Client Support & Onboarding

  • Serve as the go-to subject matter expert for clients with Agency MBS questions on the RiskSpan Platform.
  • Handle client questions directly, partnering with the CSM on relationship management and routing technical issues to Engineering or other SMEs when needs
  • Provide client support as a subject matter escalation point across RiskSpan's broader analytical product suite as needed.
  • Help test and train AI-powered support tools designed to handle common Agency MBS questions, contributing your domain expertise to improve automated responses and escalation logic.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Represent the client and product perspective across internal teams like Engineering, Quantitative Research, Customer Success, and Sales.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success to ensure smooth handoffs, healthy client relationships, and closed-loop feedback from post-sale to product.
  • Support Sales Engineers on demos, trials, and prospect evaluations -- particularly for the MBS product.
  • Provide dedicated support coverage that frees Customer Success to focus on pipeline and expansion.
  • Track client usage patterns and surface insights that inform roadmap priorities and ultimately support revenue and renewal conversations.
  • Develop content to support marketing of the MBS product, including use cases, one-pagers, blog posts, and demo narratives, in partnership with Marketing and Sales.

What you bring

  • 2-4 years of experience, including 1-2 years of experience in structured finance, fixed income, mortgage analytics, or financial technology.
  • Working knowledge of agency MBS (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae pools, TBAs, and prepayment dynamics).
  • Solid understanding of prepayment analysis concepts: CPR, S-curves, refi incentive, SATO, burnout, and seasoning.
  • Comfortable querying and analyzing data in SQL and Snowflake.
  •  Able to translate complex analytics and technical concepts into clear, accessible language for clients and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields
  • Preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Claude, Claude Code, or other LLM/AI tools in a professional or analytical context
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg MBS screens, Intex, or similar structured finance platforms
  • Exposure to Python for data analysis and automation.
  • Interest in or experience with AI product development or prompt engineering.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful work at the intersection of mortgage finance, data technology, and AI.
  • Collaborative, expert team with deep roots in structured finance.
  • Opportunity to grow into a Senior Product Management or Sales Engineering role.
  • Base salary of $100,000
  • Exact compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and market data
  • Benefits package including paid time off, 401k, and medical, dental, and vision insurance options
